Alright everyone,

My name is Oscar and I am one of the full time supervisors here at 33 Durham.

I’ve worked here for over a year now, in which I’ve developed and refined my cocktail bartending skills, regularly making contributions to our in-house menu. As much as I love and enjoy making cocktails, I’m equally happy entertaining our guests on the floor, so if you’re ever around you will most likely find me on the floor running drinks and explaining our processes.

However, I can’t always get what I want, so on some rare occasions you do find me behind the bar! Feel free to ask for a custom cocktail or any classic you can think of. We have a very well stocked backbar at 33, so nothing is off the cards.

I enjoy a glass of wine, usually red, but that depends on the weather. When it comes to cocktails I’m known to be partial to a Sidecar or a Last Word. Just something that gets you drunk quick that also tastes delicious.

Hello citizens of Durham!

My name is Dean and I’m very excited to announce I am the new GM at Bar 33!

As a little introduction I am a lifelong hospitality professional, I was born locally in Consett and I have managed bars of all types for nearly 20 years. Those of you that know Leeds have probably been to one of my Bars or restaurants. (Vice and Virtue, Blind Tyger, Feed, Sky Lounge, Reform, the Maven).

I have won, and judged, a whole range of competitions, most of my wins were some sort of martini. I got 2nd globally on the Stoli Elit martini finals, winning the Leeds heat and UK finals. I’ve won comps for Citadelle gin, Chase Vodka, Masons, Remy Martin, and entered too many to remember. My best known drink is the “Wild and Dirty martini” which you’ll find in the Diffords guide. (4/5* rating)

Bar 33 is just my sort of bar, Martinis and modern classics are ordered every night, we are unironically aiming to be among the world’s best hospitality experiences, it’s intimate and with it’s own distinct down to earth identity, and I can’t wait to see how quickly myself and the team can bring a new level of hospitality to Durham! Especially armed with a rotovap, centrifuge, nitro-press and a new built bar in my arsenal!
