For a long time now, people have been asking me when I was finally going to write the clubbing book.
Well… I’ve been busy.
And I can finally say that my new book, titled Kings of the Game, is finished.
What started out as one idea evolved into something far darker and more grounded than I originally planned. This isn’t a nostalgic “remember the good old days” story.
It’s about what really happened behind the scenes.
The drugs.
The violence.
The s*x.
The egos.
The fear.
The power struggles.
Because while everyone’s loved up on the dancefloor at 2am, completely locked into the music, there’s another world operating behind the curtains and backstage doors — promoters trying to hold everything together, security dealing with chaos, dealers moving through the crowd, and dangerous people controlling far more than most punters ever realised.
Set over the course of one night inside a packed Cardiff superclub, Kings of the Game pulls back the curtain on the side of clubland most people never got to see.
The book features moments inspired by real events, real experiences, and real people from over 25 years in the scene — although names and certain details have been changed to protect the guilty.
Small Synopsis
Marcus St John and Ryan Kane are about to open the biggest nightclub of their lives.
Kingdom Superclub is packed from wall to wall, the music is flying, and superstar DJ Lucas V is tearing the roof off the place.
Then security finds the first pills.
As the night spirals deeper into drugs, violence, and betrayal, Marcus discovers that someone inside the club is working for one of the city’s most feared nightclub operators — a man with his own plans for Kingdom.
And before the night is over, everything will come to a head.
