Yesterday we experienced a new low for Kingswood.
At 4.20am we received a call from our security provider that Chasers nightclub had been broken into.
By 3pm we were at the building which had clear signs of being broken into but were unable to gain access.
Despite Chasers nightclub no longer being open to the public, it is still a commercial property being utilised by an active company and accessed weekly. This means there are valuable assets and alcohol stored on site.
Given this information and the acts witnessed by ourselves, we did not expect these criminals to be given any sort of rights as squatters. This classification has baffled us as this means that by UK law, any high street premises actively trading can have someone break in and blockade the door from the inside and this allows them to claim they now live there, dooming the business from operating or owners accessing their property.
Sadly, we have had reports of these people removing our assets from the property, we assume to sell for drugs and have seen them actively sell drugs outside of Chasers, which will increase the presence of the undesirables of our area.
We write this message on Facebook to let you know that the area around Chasers nightclub is not safe.
We have always worked with the police, supplying our CCTV, to help reduce the crime in our area, but now the police can't act for us unless the public reports the crimes happening in and around our property.
These people have broken in through the front door.
They have broken into a secured office and disabled the CCTV.
And most worryingly, they have destroyed/disabled the security system and the fire alarm system.
The police cannot act because of our country's laws, but we are incredibly worried about what these people may do and the risk of fire which could destroy half of Kingswood High Street and Kings Chase Shopping Centre.
We urge anyone who sees anything from the property to report it to the police using 101 or 999
We have a crime reference number of AS-20251227-0543
