Soul Damn Funky first started life as a club event in Brighton and was the only party in town specialising in deep, soulful & credible funky house, U.S garage and everything in-between. Every Friday night the funky soulful grooves were served up by Brighton house connoisseurs: Mick Fuller, Queen Josephine, Gary Eeks, Kate Wildblood, Mark Cooper, Mickey Cee, The Analysir, Curley Deb and Russell Ruc
kman, and of course not forgetting the headliners which included DJ Romain, CJ Mackintosh, Paul Trouble Anderson and Sarah Favouritizm. Following the success of Soul Damn Funky’s regular Friday night party they then took to the airwaves of Brighton on the city’s only dance music radio station Code South FM. The Soul Damn Funky soulful specialists educated the people of Brighton every Sunday with a quality selection of upfront and classics deep, soulful, funky and gospel house, as well as regular competitions and interviews from some of the main players on the house scene including New York legend Victor Simonelli. After a successful summer on Code South in 2011 Soul Damn Funky returned to the station in 2012, this time with a new Saturday morning slot from 10 till 12. It looks like 2012 has been a pretty productive year for the Soul Damn Funky collective, apart from returning to the airwaves of Brighton once more they also resurrected those infamous parties and the H Bar in Hove became the new home for Brighton’s only soulful house event, Paul Trouble Anderson and Sarah Favouritizm came back to party with the Soul Damn Funkers as well as New York house master Victor Simonelli. On the Subject of Victor Simonelli, Soul Damn Funky joined forces with him in May 2012 and released a compilation album of classic New York house on his label Bassline. So just three months into 2013 and Soul Damn funky have already pulled together another fine selection of house music for their next album, and this time they’ve teamed up with none other than Todd Terry to release “Soul Damn Funky presents InHouse Records Vol 1”
They also celebrated their 3rd year of events by throwing a massive party at the H Bar with headliner Richard Earnshaw & The Real Decoys. The Soul Damn Funky collective have got big plans for the future so make sure you follow them to be kept up to date with the next event, album, mixes and radio shows.
