The hospitality sector has come together to launch – a united campaign and petition calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%.

Spearheaded by chef and publican Tom Kerridge, we’re working alongside trade bodies across the sector, such as and , hospitality communities like , and you, businesses across hospitality, to say 10% VAT is fair for hospitality.

Our sector pays too much tax, and VAT is the single biggest lever the Government can pull to support venues, our customers, our high streets and our local communities.

This campaign is for everyone: businesses, customers, waiting staff, chefs, kitchen porters, bar staff, hotel teams, farmers, brewers, suppliers and producers.

We'll be open from 12pm today serving food until 2pm then re opening at 5pm for food until 8pm. We've introduced longer breaks to ensure staff are out of the heat at prime time♥️

At Bistro 8, we pride ourselves on looking after our staff as without them there's no Bistro 8. Even if we had a fully air conditioned kitchen we'd of still closed yesterday, it's called looking after your staff... not your pocket👏

Please remember that food may take slightly longer in high temperatures but we can't wait to welcome you all today!!

We've taken the decision to close tomorrow between 12-5. The kitchen reached 50+C this afternoon and it just isn't safe for our staff. Our staff potentially fainting over a few meals just isn't right with us.

Our staff do so much for us day in day out, it's only right we give back to them, what they give to us.

We'll re open at 5pm tomorrow♥️
