GOOD MORNING MY FRIDAY PEOPLE 🌱💚 IS “RECREATIONAL” CANNABIS ALWAYS ACTUALLY RECREATIONAL? 🤔
We came across an article titled “Not All Cannabis Use Is Medical, and That’s Okay.” We understand the argument, but we’re not completely convinced.
If someone says, “I just use cannabis after work to chill out,” but it helps them switch off, sleep, reduce stress or anxiety and emotionally re-regulate — are those not therapeutic benefits?
Over decades around cannabis, we’ve seen plenty of habitual users who consider themselves completely recreational but appear to be getting benefits they may not recognise as medicinal.
We also see many ADHD-type traits among habitual consumers — racing thoughts, restlessness, difficulty switching off and sleep issues. That doesn’t mean everyone has ADHD, but could some people have been self-medicating symptoms without ever realising?
There obviously IS recreational cannabis use. But if you’re habitually using it because it helps you sleep, manage stress, calm your mind or function better… how recreational is that really? 🤔
We don’t claim to have the final answer — we want the discussion.
👇 Do you consider your cannabis use medical or recreational? And more importantly, what does it actually do for you?
