In 1996 Logical Progression was released and featured music by LTJ Bukem, PFM, Tayla, Peshay, MC Conrad , Trace and more.
CD 1 was a compilation of the freshest cuts with CD2 being a beautiful mix of floaty amens and breaks mixed by Good Looking head honcho LTJ Bukem.
Skip forward to 1997 and DJ Blame took control of the album with Logical Progression Level 2.
A beautiful hour long mix on CD1 of the dreamiest Drum & Bass with MC Conrad and MC DRS on vocal duties with CD 2 being a compilation of Good Looking Records Cuts. This was a superb album with music by Blame, Tayla, Intense, Artemis, Nookie, Source Direct, Blu Mar Ten and more.
As we head into 1998 this is where Logical Progression got really interesting. Level 3 of the seminal album series saw CD 1 rest in the steady hands of Intense. Now this was a truly different take on the whole series. Recorded live at Brixton Academy , Intense were a live Drum & Bass band. And for 55 Minutes you heard nothing but live Drum & Bass performed on stage by a full band with Conrad and DRS hyping and controlling the crowd. Intense also had the legendary Saxophonist Molly Duncan on stage. Molly Duncan for those who don’t know was part of The Average White Band. But even more impressive is the fact that Molly recorded with Ray Charles, Tom Petty, Ben E King, Dire Straits, Bryan Ferry and many others and played live with artists including Marvin Gaye, Chaka Khan and Eric Clapton.
As we head into 2001 , Logical Progression had two album releases.
First up Logical Progression Level 4. For level 4 we see the late , great MC Conrad take charge of the album.
This is where we saw Conrad head into the studio and lay down vocal to the main tracks on CD1.
CD2 turns over to Good Looking Records exclusives. A slight different take on the album series as CD1 was neither mixed nor live. But it was a collection of Drum & Bass, Downtempo style thorough-out. A limited edition version was also released with a 3rd CD that was compiled with exclusive MC Conrad remixes.
And finally as we close 2001 out and slightly backwards in the series. We see Logical Progression Level 1…. Yes I know , Level 2 came out in 1997. Anyway, we digress. Once again LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad are back with the atmospheric sound. Logical Progression Level 1 was different from Logical Progression 1.
The Vocal mix on this album was originally released on the ‘One Half Of A Whole Decade - Five Years At Ministry Of Sound’ album that was released in 1996. As we skip forward to 2001, Good Looking Records re released this under the guise of Logical Progression Level 1. CD1 being the vocal mix and CD2 being a studio instrument while CD handed over the some Good Looking Classics such as PFM’s The Western, LTJ Bukem - Demons Theme, Peshay - The Vocal tune and a whole load more.
