🌊 The Flavours of Old Torrevieja
Torrevieja has always been a city shaped by the sea and its famous salt lakes. Long before tourism arrived, local families built their meals around what the land and sea provided each day: fresh fish, rice, olive oil, legumes, and vegetables grown in the fertile Vega Baja region.
From these simple ingredients came dishes that still tell the story of the city today, such as caldero and arroz a banda, traditional recipes full of character, created by generations of fishermen and families whose lives were closely connected to the Mediterranean.
The salt lakes, one of Torrevieja’s most iconic landmarks, were more than just a source of work. Salt played an essential role in preserving fish and helped shape the unique culinary identity of the area.
At Tamaró, we celebrate the traditions of the Mediterranean and believe that every dish should tell a story. Because great food is not only about flavour, it is about culture, memories, and sharing special moments around the table
