Tikiman & Arthur at Open Ground

„This coming Saturday Tikiman aka Paul St. Hillaire and me return to the booth to perform live together an excursion of our last years Atonal Berlin performance.

From the beginning the main drive for collaborating with Tiki was for me, my curiosity to hear Tikis unique skill to ride riddims in his inimitable way outside of the usual Dub Techno context. Soon as nature by itself through both of our taste and understanding, seeing music genres universal, our performances shifted from Jamaican Dub to current Electronic styles in between some kind of triangle of reduced „grey area“ Techno / Drum & Bass / Halftime & Dubstep territory.

The last years I got obsessed with Gqom & Amapiano, so our set at Atonal was on the one hand a logical excursion into this new global styles but on the other still an ambitious experiment to combine Tiki’s vocalism with these new riddims. Expect current sound system pressure in a live dubwise style..“ Arthur

Mzansi Bass at Open Ground celebrates the launch of the forthcoming compilation of the same name, curated by Shannen SP, to be released with Colombian label Tratratrax on the 12th of June.

Built with 100% new material, Mzansi Bass centers artists pushing the boundaries of bass music in South Africa, spotlighting the continuum of radical invention coming out of the region’s electronic sphere. Exploring the hypnotic, darker, bassier sounds in between 3-step, Gqom and experimental Amapiano to form a succinct snapshot of the country’s unique soundsystem culture. Deeply rooted in Black African rave music from the local scenes of Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Pretoria, Shannen describes it as “electronic music that is embodied, trance inducing and deeply physical.”

With a powerful line up featuring artists on the compilation, this party presents a unique offering of bass music. Durban’s gqom icon DJ Lag, who has collaborated with artists ranging from Moses Boyd to Novelist to Ape Drums and has taken his intoxicating brand of Gqom to clubs all over the world, from Seoul, to Colombia to New York. Shannen SP, whose sets platform the vanguard of the global club underground with recent tours in India and East Asia, and support slots for Arca, Batu and Jamie XX. State OFFF, the Zimbabwe-born and Amsterdam-based artist who has been igniting dancefloors worldwide with his bold productions and high-energy sets, blending Gqom, Baile Funk, Dubstep, and other global sounds, earning him a spot on Mixmag’s „Top 25 Artists to Watch in 2025.“

Expect to hear boundary pushing club music, hybrid genres and lots of unreleased material.

is one of electronic music’s most quietly influential figures - a composer, producer, and engineer whose work has shaped the sonic language of the last four decades.
Trained as a classical percussionist, von Oswald came of age in the early 1980s avant-garde before co-founding the landmark Basic Channel/Maurizio and Rhythm and Sound project with Mark Ernestus. Together they wrote the blueprint for minimal techno and dub-inflected electronic music, records that remain touchstones across virtually every corner of contemporary club culture.

As one of Detroit’s most adventurous producers, Dixon’s reputation has been built on more than 30 years of wildly
unconventional techno. While his approach is rooted in the classic methodology of his city’s scene, across a heaving discography he speaks a language that’s entirely his own, releasing on some of the most prestigious electronic music labels such as Metroplex, Tresor, Rush Hour, Axis, and Delsin to name a few,

His unique approach to live shows is the same as the music he makes, all original unreleased material expect anything at any time but with a very steady awareness of the dance floor and mind.

Lil Louis is credited as being the Founding Father of House Music. When he was 12 years old, Marvin Louis Burns had his first DJ gig, selecting music for one of his mother’s parties. It was the beginning of a career that changed the history of house music. Music was ever present in Burns’ childhood home. His father was a guitarist who did session work for Chess Records, which meant young Marvin picked up instruments starting at a young age. But DJing would soon become his primary creative outlet. As a young teen, he made the rounds, playing records at Southside Chicago establishments as soul morphed into disco, laying the foundations of house. That was when he earned the nickname Lil’ Louis, building up a following with his selections and tape edits.

During the ‘80s his parties would cater to a crowd that was reinterpreting the vibes from the Warehouse and Muzic Box. Venues such as The Bismarck Hotel and The Pavillion were packed with Black youth who followed Louis’s parties religiously. These parties would have a profound effect upon future innovators like Theo Parrish who vividly recalled how Louis would run the gauntlet of styles, not only playing the much-hyped beat tracks that were defining the genre, but also setting the pace with familiar material like Stevie Wonder’s “As.”

On Saturday, 30.05.2026 Lil Louis touches down at Open Ground for a 3 hour DJ set.
