Der Club liegt auf einem alten Industriegelände (mehrere Fabrikhallen) aus den 20er Jahren, welches vielen Szenegängern unter dem Namen Hawerkamp geläufig sein dürfte. Im Juni 1997 wurde das Gebäude des ehemaligen und legendären Cosmic Clubs übernommen. Nach gründlicher Umbau- und Renovierungsphase öffnete am 08.08.1997 dort der Fusion seine Pforten. Der Club ist aufgeteilt in: den Mainfloor, die

Box, den Basement, den Chillroom und den „Outdoorbereich“ (teilweise überdacht, feste 7m lange Theke). Der Fusion Club geht vorwiegend Kooperationen mit diversen Veranstaltern (Party-Promoter) ein. Im Klartext heißt das: Die Clubbetreiber kümmern sich in erster Linie um die Gastronomie und das Personal, während die Veranstalter für das Booking, die Betreuung der Künstler und die Promotion zuständig sind. Diese Idee spiegelt sich unter anderem in der Namensgebung wieder: Der Club bietet ein „Fusionszentrum“ für Veranstaltungen, special Events und bekannten Party-Reihen aus ganz NRW. Der Schwerpunkt liegt im elektronischen Musikbereich. Das Alter der Gäste liegt zwischen 18 und 30 Jahren. Das Einzugsgebiet geht von Niedersachsen (Oldenburg) / nördliches Rheinland über das Ruhrgebiet bis nach Ostwestfalen, oft kommen auch Gäste von weiter her.
