26.12 - XMAS SPEZIAL w/ Roman Flügel, Terry Lee Brown Junior & Thomas Hammann

Roman Flügel knows that Christmas is best celebrated at home. That’s why the Darmstadt native is returning to his hometown to honor Galerie Kurzweil with conscious of tradition. Despite his packed tour schedule, Flügel has once again enriched his back catalog with numerous releases this year including an EP on Phonica and an extensive remix compilation to mark the 21st anniversary of his iconic tune “Geht’s noch?” Where House ends and Techno begins is the place Flügel feels most at home. The man who, together with Jörn Elling Wuttke as Alter Ego, has given us many club hits and nights of dancing, will once again transport us to this place with his set.

Accompanying Flügel as tour guides are Thomas Hammann and Terry Lee Brown Jr., two other Darmstadt natives whose sound can be described as deep and driving. Terry Lee Brown Jr. will kick off the evening and Hammann will close the night. An absolute must-see!

Forever In Daze welcomes a triumvirate of the highest caliber, which sets fashion accents in addition to musical highlights!

DJ Hell has been behind the decks since 1978 and is one of the forefathers of German House and Techno DJs. The impressive resume of the founder of International Deejay Gi**lo Records not only includes the release of highly acclaimed albums, EPs and singles, countless gigs around the globe and work as an A&R and club operator. Helmut Josef Geier, alias DJ Hell, has also made a name for himself in the fashion world, seamlessly combining it with his existence as a music artist. The energetic Munich native was at times the musical coordinator for fashion designer Michael Michalsky and produced the sound for fashion shows by Hugo Boss, Raf Simons, and Donatella Versace. On his third visit to Galerie Kurzweil, DJ Hell will blur the boundaries between House, Techno, New Wave and Electroclash in his inimitable style, drawing on the expertise gained from over 40 years as a DJ.

Wolfram’s legendary Marlboro suit says it all: The Austrian has made the break in style his trademark, both in his sensational outfits and in the musical design of his sets. Wolfram relies on a combination of credible electronic tunes and pointedly interspersed party trash. With his self-deprecating formula, the beau wins over the crowd in no time: His consistently entertaining social media content underscores Wolfram’s approach of not taking everything too seriously. Wolfram’s fifth visit to Galerie Kurzweil is a sure sign that he is on the same wavelength as the local community.

ICYKOF, the third act of the evening, also has a more than distinctive fashion background. As the creative mind behind The Unknown Vlogs, the London-based artist with Jamaican roots counts world stars such as Kendrick Lamar and Drake among his collaboration partners and has become an icon in the fashion world. As a DJ, ICYKOF has taken off vertically and is stylistically at home in the realms of Detroit techno and Chicago house. The legend Kevin Saunderson contributed a remix to ICYKOF’s recently released “The Way You Love” EP, which appeared on Saunderson’s label KMS Records.

25.10 - FID w/ MALL GRAB, Effy & David Jackson

Australian prodigy Mall Grab obviously knows that all good things come in threes. After two spectacular gigs at Galerie Kurzweil, the London-based artist returns to us for the third time as part of our in-house “Forever In Daze” series to do what he does better than anyone else: send the crowd into ecstasy. With his blend of Speed Garage, Lo-Fi, Rave and Techno, he has created a trademark style that high-fives the zeitgeist so hard that it makes the walls shake. Pure energy, raw and yet full of emotion—anyone who has ever seen Mall Grab perform at Galerie Kurzweil knows that he can turn the dance floor into a seething cauldron in seconds.

Joining him is Effy, one of the most exciting voices on the new British scene. Born in England, Effy grew up with the UK sound and interprets it with her own touch in sets based on driving Techno, UK bass, and euphoric Breakbeats. Together with Mall Grab, Effy runs the label Fragrance Records, founded in 2024, which also released their collab track “Iluv”.

The third member of the trio is David Jackson on the decks. With releases on Fragrance Records and Steel City Dance Discs, also run by Mall Grab, Jackson represents a sound that perfectly complements that of Mall Grab and Effy.

Das Dutzend ist voll: Seit zwölf Jahren zeichnet die Galerie Kurzweil dafür verantwortlich, dass das Who’s Who der globalen elektronischen Musikszene regelmäßig die Reise ins beschauliche Darmstadt antritt. Zum Jubiläum, das gleichzeitig das Ende der clubinternen Sommerpause besiegelt, ist mit Damian Lazarus ein DJ zu Gast, der aktuell gefragt ist wie kein Zweiter. Vom Hï auf Ibiza bis zum Space in Miami gibt es keinen weltberühmten Club, den der Brite mit seiner Klangwelt zwischen hypnotisch, treibend und unerwartet nicht in seinen Bann gezogen hat. Bei seiner Galerie-Premiere erhält Damian Lazarus Unterstützung von Jonathan Kaspar. Dass die beiden stilistisch ein perfektes Match sind, zeigt sich unter anderem daran, dass Kaspar bereits mehrere Releases auf Damian Lazarus’ Label Crosstown Rebels vorzuweisen hat. Der Closing-Slot wird Lokalmatador Lukas Lehmann zuteil, der als langjähriger Resident des Hauses ein feines Gespür dafür hat, mit welchen Tunes er die Crowd glücklich auf die Heimreise entlässt.

Im Tresorraum sorgt das ebenfalls in Darmstadt beheimatete Heineraudio-Kollektiv in Form von Elena Maria, Mombrecht, Máté Si, No_Frank und Placebo S*x dafür, dass die Boxenkalotten Schwerstarbeit verrichten und die Nacht doch wieder länger dauert als geplant.

Tonight! FID w/ CINTHIE - DJ Deep - Robert Drewek

Cinthie ist ein wahres Zeitmanagement-Wunder. Als international tourende DJ, Produzentin und Labelbetreiberin (803 Crystal Grooves, We_r House, Beste Modus & Co.) hat die „Queen of House“ alle Hände voll zu tun und wirkt dennoch so gelassen, als habe sie das Wort Stress niemals gehört. Als wäre das noch nicht genug, betreibt die sympathische Berlinerin zusätzlich ihren Plattenladen Elevate, den sie mit viel Liebe kuratiert. Trotz ihres bis zum Platzen gefüllten Terminkalenders kehrt Cinthie regelmäßig in die Galerie Kurzweil zurück und ist zu einer festen Institution unseres Clubs geworden.

DJ Deep ist so etwas wie das männliche Pendant zu Cinthie. Der Mann mit dem klangvollen bürgerlichen Namen Cyril Etienne hat sich auf dem fruchtbaren Boden der Pariser Szene zu einem geschätzten Global Player im House- und Techno-Bereich entwickelt. Seine bestechende Fähigkeit, Schätze aus der Vergangenheit und aktuelle Tunes zu mitreißenden Sets mit rotem Faden zu kombinieren, brachte dem Vinyl-Junkie früh die Aufmerksamkeit von Laurent Garnier ein, unter dessen Fittichen er seine DJ-Karriere in legendären Clubs der französischen Hauptstadt wie dem Rex oder dem Palace startete. Die Produktionen von DJ Deep – häufig im Teamwork mit Roman Poncet aka Traumer unter den Pseudonymen Adventice (Techno), Fang (House) oder Sergie Rezza (Ambient/Experimental) – säumen die Plattenregale der Connaisseure elektronischer Musik. Auch mit seinem Label Deeply Rooted, das unter anderem Releases von Kerri Chandler oder Ben Klock vorzuweisen hat, liefert DJ Deep seit über 20 Jahren kontinuierlich Qualität pur.

Als Dritter im Bunde komplettiert Robert Drewek das Line-Up dieser Edition von Forever in Daze. Der Frankfurter sorgt für local Power und reiht sich als DJ, Produzent und Labelbetreiber (Rawax) nahtlos in das Profilraster des Abends ein.

28.05 w/ Kölsch at Kurzweil

Kölsch hat ein sicheres Händchen dafür, seinen Projekten durchweg einen epischen Anstrich zu verpassen. Ob der Däne als Produzent unvergessliche Hymnen wie „Opa“, „Der Alte“ oder „Goldfisch“ raushaut oder als DJ auf dem Eiffelturm ein Cercle-Set zum Besten gibt – das Attribut „legendär“ schwingt bei Kölsch immer unweigerlich mit. Mühelos beherrscht der Kompakt-Artist die hohe Kunst, musikalische Tiefe und atmosphärische Extase zu balancieren, ohne auf plakative Elemente zurückzugreifen oder seinem Stil untreu zu werden. Kein Wunder also, dass Kölsch im Eröffnungsjahr des weltbekannten Clubs Hï auf Ibiza direkt zu den Residents zählte. Auch zum erlauchten Kreis der Hosts einer regelmäßigen Show auf BBC Radio 1’s Residency gehörte Kölsch bereits. Dazu füllen eindrucksvolle fünf Alben sowie unzählige Singles und EPs seine üppige Discographie. 03.05 - Teenage Dreams w/ Dj Heartstring, Dj Eivissa & Villa

If there was a prize for who has best reactivated the Trance sound of the 90s and translated it into the 21st century one of the main contenders for the title would be DJ Heartstring: The Berlin duo played a big part in making happy rave synth melodies and BPMs of 140 and above socially acceptable again. Jonas and Leo are dumping cubic meters of water on the mills of the younger generation. DJ Heartstring already honored us with a booking in 2022 and are now making a stop at Galerie Kurzweil with their own event series Teenage Dreams, which is also backed by a label.
The boys have their Berlin partner in crime DJ Eivissa on board. The co-founder of the Layers collective prefers a House style which is perfect for everybody who like to groove a little slower. The capital city boys will receive local support from the Frankfurt duo Villa, whose musical focus is on Techno.

22.03 w/ Danilo Plessow aka MCDE x Tereza & Phonk D

Ob auf dem Dekmantel Festival, in der Panorama Bar oder bei seinen legendären Boiler Room Sets – Danilo Plessow aka Motor City Drum Ensemble hat sich den Ruf als einer der vielseitigsten Selectors der Szene mehr als verdient. Als wahrer Vinylarchäologe, der die Plattenläden und -flohmärkte dieser Welt nach vergessenen Disco-Perlen und House-Schätzen durchforstet, gestaltet er seine Sets zu einer Zeitreise durch die goldene Ära des Detroit Techno, seelenvollen Deep House, verschollene Soul-Klassiker und rare Disco-Edits – kunstvoll verwoben zu einem organischen Ganzen, das den tanzwilligen Clubgänger ebenso catcht wie den Musik-Connaisseur im heimischen Wohnzimmer. Als Produzent steht MCDE seinen DJ-Skills in Nichts nach. Seine "Raw Cuts"-Serie gilt längst als moderne Klassiker-Reihe, die Chicago House in der DNA trägt, während er unter verschiedenen weiteren Projektnamen seine Liebe zu anderen Stilrichtungen wie Broken Beats (Inverse Cinematics) oder Ambient (Vermont) auslebt. Seit 2020 betreibt er zudem zusammen mit Bobby van Putten zudem das gefeierte Label Space Grapes, dessen Releases bei allen Boogie- und Funk-Gourmets ganz oben im Regal stehen.

Mit Tereza steht Plessow eine DJ zur Seite, die sich ebenfalls in den organisch-warmen Gefilden der Dance-Musik bewegt. Ob Breaks, Fusion oder Jazzy House – die Bandbreite ihrer Einflüsse ist groß, innovativ und macht Langeweile zum Fremdwort. Dass Tereza und Plessow gut harmonieren, haben sie auf diversen gemeinsamen Gigs bereits bewiesen und wir sind sicher, dass uns dieses Duo auch in der Galerie musikalisch rundum abholen wird.

Als Local Hero ist Phonk D mit an Bord, der 2024 mit seinem Label Fo***ob zehnjähriges Jubiläum feiern durfte und zu diesem Anlass nicht nur ein Release mit Soundstream-Remix veröffentlichte („Cheek“), sondern die Berliner Legende direkt noch mit auf Tour nahm.
