A first-of-it's-kind speakeasy bar in Guangzhou, conveniently located in Dongshan, the equivalent of West Village in New York and home to one of the best fresh markets in Canton. Hope & Sesame's chic and modern-Chinese interior creates a stark contrast with the traditional Cantonese snack bar which houses it's secret entrance. Our sole focus is to create an eye-opening / mouth-watering / soul-soothing journey of cocktail-orgasms (eye-roll) for our most discerning guests, utilising the finest local & imported ingredients available seasonally.

Founder Nick describes Uh Bar as “a laboratory invaded by nature.” Concrete, greenery, and lab glassware blend with handcrafted woodwork made by Nick and his family. Raw, tactile, and paired with a curated soundtrack to set the vibe. 🎶

This still feels unreal.

When we opened our doors in 2016, we’d often introduce Guangzhou to overseas cocktail lovers as “a city just two hours from Hong Kong and Macao”. 10 years later, we’re proud to say that we successfully put Guangzhou on the world’s bar map. And it’s all because of your support, the team’s perseverance, and a whole lot of passion.

This year marks our 10th years anniversary, from a humble 32 seats to the Hope Group family with 5 venues across multiple cities, the launch of Hope & Sesame’s new 2F bar, and our latest 17th menu “Bittersweet”. To receive this honor in such a milestone year means the world to us.

A HUGE THANK YOU to our relentless team, our wonderful guests, partners, and industry peers. This honor belongs to every one of you, and to the bright future of Mainland China’s cocktail bar scene.
