Aloha, Tiki Family 🌸

We begin the year with heavy hearts and a bittersweet announcement: as of today, Waiana has officially closed its doors. This little slice of paradise meant the world to us, and while we take time to mourn its end, we are already looking ahead to creating a new home for Waiana in a future location.

The past 1.5 years have been nothing short of extraordinary. We’ve been overwhelmed by the love and support from our regulars, as well as the recognition we’ve received from our peers and the industry. Your encouragement and enthusiasm have meant everything to us and reassured us that we were on the right path.

While we gave it our all, sometimes life takes decisions out of our hands. But this is not goodbye—it’s simply a pause.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this journey, for the incredible memories, and for letting Waiana be a part of your lives. We will keep our Instagram page active and share updates as soon as we have news about the reopening.

Here’s to a new year full of hope, new beginnings, and the promise of seeing you all again at the next Waiana.🏖️🗿

For our final competition of the year, we had the honor of representing at the Swiss Final. This year’s theme was a perfect blend of cocktails and music: pick your favorite song, craft a cocktail inspired by it, and here’s the twist—make it aperitif-style. Not gonna lie, this challenge had me sweating; I wanted to make a Piña Colada. And guess what? I did just that!

A tropical twist on a timeless classic, my Piña Colada brought the sunshine and vibes to the stage. We’re thrilled to have secured 4th place—a result that fills us with joy. After all, classics like the Piña Colada never go out of style, especially when they’re dressed to impress tiki-style!

Last week, we had the honor of representing at the Kindschi Perfect Serve final in the beautiful mountain setting!

A big mahalo for hosting such an incredible event and letting us share a bit of tiki spirit in the birthplace of Röteli. The day was filled with good vibes, great energy, and we were stoked to take home 3rd place.

You all are truly amazing! 🔥

Nearly a month ago, we had the pleasure of representing in the biggest Tiki Competition final in Vienna. The three challenges were incredibly tough, and these two gentlemen didn’t make it any easier .c.astaneda 🤙🏼🫶

We are thrilled and happy to share with you that the trophy has made its way back to Waiana and now sits proudly on our countertop, greeting each of you upon arrival.

A huge thanks goes to these two wonderful people , without whom this wouldn’t have been possible. Tiki Match is the result of their hard work, dedication, and passion—a perfectly organized European final that is truly remarkable. 🙏🏼

Also, a shout-out to the legendary jury .janse —each one of them is a titan in their own right.

Thank you all for this experience and for allowing us to share a little piece of Waiana with you! 🩵

Such a significant anniversary deserves a significant cocktail creation filled with history. Just like the marriage between Rita and Masataka, this cocktail is also a marriage of two worlds. The best way to introduce anyone to the world of Tiki is through the Mai Tai. The best way to introduce anyone to Nikka is through Nikka from the Barrel, its bottle recognizable on any bar shelf around the world. While Nikka celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2024, the Mai Tai celebrated its 80th. To add another twist, we are using the long-lost Gardenia mix from Don the Beachcomber, recovered after decades in 2006.

One cocktail, featuring the iconic Nikka from the Barrel, the Mai Tai from Trader Vic, and the Gardenia mix from Don the Beachcomber. Legends admire legends; if these four individuals were to sit down at a bar and sip this cocktail, they would share stories and enjoy the marriage of the best from both worlds.

Rita, Masataka, Vic, Donn—
Their names are carved in history and will never be forgotten.
This cocktail, *Heritage*, is my way of showing respect for everything they have done for us.
