Happy New Year & Happy 150th Canada. Celebrate passionately with Canadian Style Tango this Friday at Swing City (Edelweiss Club, 108 Niagara).
I taught a fun version of what I call Canadian Tango a few months ago at Swing City and I am offering it again this Friday by popular request. You can easily mix these figures into your International or American Style Tango. I look forward to seeing you at Swing City to learn this entertaining dance on January 6th at 8pm. A Ballroom Dance follows the workshop from 9 to 11pm

07/17/2016

This Friday at Swing City I will teach some cheeky Cha Cha in the workshop and then play some amazingly fun Ballroom, Latin and Swing music to start your weekend off in the best possible way - on the dance floor.

We only have 2 more Swing City dances this summer since we will be closed in August so I hope to see you there this week or next week.

Funnies for the week:

"Optimism is going after Moby Dick in a rowboat,
- And taking the tartar sauce with you!"

Both optimists and pessimists contribute to society.
The optimist invents the aeroplane,
the pessimist the parachute.
- George Bernard Shaw

Some days you eat salads and go to the gym,
some days you eat cupcakes and refuse to put on pants.
It's called balance.

Just spent 15 minutes searching for my phone in my car.
Using my phone as a flashlight.

I don't understand how I can remember every word of a song from 1964, but I can't remember why I walked into the kitchen...

My head says gym
but my heart says tacos.

Why don't I have any tattoos?
For the same reason you don't put a bumper sticker on a Ferrari.

Dance is like wine; it matures with every performance. - Alarmel Valli.
My wife still says I act like a kid - I guess I’m not dancing enough...

I will teach Polka in the workshop at 8pm on Friday at Swing City – just in time for Oktoberfest - ya gotta learn to Polka!

Very Funny Guy:

Yogi Berra passed away last week at the age of 90. He is probably better known for his unique take on the English language than for his baseball career - and he had an amazing baseball career. Here are 50 of his most memorable quotes:

When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

You can observe a lot by just watching.

It ain't over till it's over.

It's like déjà vu all over again.

No one goes there nowadays, it's too crowded.

Baseball is ninety percent mental and the other half is physical.

A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore.

Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't come to yours.

We made too many wrong mistakes.

Congratulations. I knew the record would stand until it was broken.

You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I'm not hungry enough to eat six.

You wouldn't have won if we'd beaten you.

I usually take a two-hour nap from one to four.

Never answer an anonymous letter.

Slump? I ain't in no slump… I just ain't hitting.

How can you think and hit at the same time?

The future ain't what it used to be.

I tell the kids, somebody's gotta win, somebody's gotta lose. Just don't fight about it. Just try to get better.

It gets late early out here.

If the people don't want to come out to the ballpark, nobody's going to stop them.

We have deep depth.

Pair up in threes.

Why buy good luggage, you only use it when you travel.

You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there.

All pitchers are liars or crybabies.

Even Napoleon had his Watergate.

Bill Dickey is learning me his experience.

He hits from both sides of the plate. He's amphibious.

It was impossible to get a conversation going, everybody was talking too much.

I can see how he (Sandy Koufax) won twenty-five games. What I don't understand is how he lost five.

I don't know (if they were men or women fans running naked across the field). They had bags over their heads.

I'm a lucky guy and I'm happy to be with the Yankees. And I want to thank everyone for making this night necessary.

I'm not going to buy my kids an encyclopedia. Let them walk to school like I did.

In baseball, you don't know nothing.

I never blame myself when I'm not hitting. I just blame the bat and if it keeps up, I change bats. After all, if I know it isn't my fault that I'm not hitting, how can I get mad at myself?

I never said most of the things I said.

It ain't the heat, it's the humility.

If you ask me anything I don't know, I'm not going to answer.

I wish everybody had the drive he (Joe DiMaggio) had. He never did anything wrong on the field. I'd never seen him dive for a ball, everything was a chest-high catch, and he never walked off the field.

So I'm ugly. I never saw anyone hit with his face.

Take it with a grin of salt.

(On the 1973 Mets) We were overwhelming underdogs.

The towels were so thick there I could hardly close my suitcase.

Little League baseball is a very good thing because it keeps the parents off the streets.

Mickey Mantle was a very good golfer, but we weren't allowed to play golf during the season; only at spring training.

You don't have to swing hard to hit a home run. If you got the timing, it'll go.

I'm lucky. Usually you're dead to get your own museum, but I'm still alive to see mine.

If I didn't make it in baseball, I won't have made it workin'. I didn't like to work.

If the world were perfect, it wouldn't be.

A lot of guys go, 'Hey, Yog, say a Yogi-ism.' I tell 'em, 'I don't know any.' They want me to make one up. I don't make 'em up. I don't even know when I say it. They're the truth. And it is the truth. I don't know.

Vote for the Dance Party!!
But, since there is no Dance Party to vote for in the October election it is challenging to know what is the correct party to vote for. Take a few minutes to check out these websites - it makes voting a whole lot easier.
You may think you know which party is aligned with your beliefs, but you might be surprised. Your friends might like these as well.

Before the drawing board, what did they get back to?

Why is the alphabet in that order? Is it because of that song?

If most accidents happen at home, why doesn’t everyone just move?

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Sometimes I pretend to be normal, but it gets boring, so I just go back to being myself.

I once shot an elephant in my pyjamas. What he was doing in them, I'll never know.

Why is it called a TV set if you only get one?

Is Disneyland a people trap run by a mouse?

Why does sour cream have a “use by” date?

Why isn’t phonetic spelled the way it sounds?

I'm so jealous of my parents. I will never have a kid as cool as theirs.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Line dancing was invented by women waiting in line to use the washroom.

Common sense is like deodorant. Those who need it the most, never use it.

I don't know how to act my age because I've never been this age before.

See which friends and political parties match your beliefs

Just over the hill… (but still dancing)

You know you’re getting old when you fall down and you wonder what else you can do while you are down there.

At my age rolling out of bed in the morning is easy. Getting up off the floor is another story.

I don’t think of my skin as saggy… I think of it as a relaxed-fit.

I’m old enough to make my own decisions… Just not young enough to remember what was decided...

I’v lost my mind… I’m pretty sure the kids took it.

Age is just a number. And mine is unlisted.

FACT: In the future, I’ll tell my grandkids that I am older than the internet, and blow their minds forever.

I’m not old. Just been young a long time.

Aging seems to the the only available way to live a longer life.

I’m not old. I just need some WD-40.

It’s not about age. It’s about attitude.

I was visiting my daughter last night when I asked if I could borrow a newspaper. "This is the 21st century" she said. "We don't waste money on newspapers. Here, use my iPad." I can tell you this... that fly never knew what hit it...
