Why our industry is supporting Ken Sim & ABC
1. They supported increased capacities for liquor primaries in Vancouver.
2. They supported extended hours to 4 AM for all of us.
3. They were instrumental in the success of FIFA
4. They kept pressure on the Provincial Government to deal with open drug use & disorder.
5. They will continue to support our industry and have plans to do (or advocate for) the following:
Establish a permanent Office of the Nighttime Economy.
Permanent spring and summer pedestrianization of the Granville Entertainment District.
Later allowance for end times for major outdoor events with an update to the noise bylaw to consider “music” in the Entertainment District.
Curtail abuse of Special Event Permits
Institute new bylaws to give the Vancouver Police Department the ability to deal with open drug use & disorder.
Create 100 involuntary care beds to help the most vulnerable people in downtown Vancouver.
