Welcoming our guest photographer for tomorrow night’s Rent Cheque.

Dayna (they/them) is a non-binary, q***r freelance photographer working in so-called Vancouver, with a focus on uplifting trans, BIPOC, fat, and disabled artists.

They have spent the past several years photographing q***r nightlife, particularly drag kings, drag things, burlesque and $trippers.

Dayna’s photography is rooted in community, connection, and care, with a particular love for theatricality, transformation, and bodies in motion.

Their goal is always the same: to reflect the beauty, complexity, and storytelling in front of their lens.

Collaboration is central to their practice, as they believe it takes more than one mind to create something truly extraordinary.

Introducing our vendor for Rent Cheque next Friday!

is a nonbinary trans maker creating hanky code keychains for q***r and kink communities.

This project began as a way to help bring the hanky code back into visibility at a time when transphobia and homophobia are rising again.

Each small hanky is designed to be worn or attached your way — on boots, belt loops, earrings, harnesses, and more — as a portable symbol of identity, desire, and community.

Their hankies are offered by donation to help keep them accessible and rooted in community care.

Housekeeping due to a recent performance that included a performer squirting breastmilk on their duo partner.

Yah, lactation play can be hot for some, but it can also be potentially germy depending on contact.
Importantly it’s very against the liquor licensing rules we have to adhere to in order to put on our party.

We are SO sorry to anyone who was impacted by this.
We haven’t been able to locate the performers to have a conversation directly. They were an out of town sign up at the bar.
Since this is a first for us, we’re confident we can ensure it doesn’t happen again.

When a performer signs up online for Rent Cheque, they’re provided a summary of rules for the stage and info on the event.
If they sign up at the event, we have the rules posted near the stage and change area.
In the excitement of the party it’s easy to miss these things, so please familiarize yourself if you plan on performing in the future.

Summary of text in slides:

HARD NOs (according to liquor license)
-Must be 19+ or older
-No real or fake s*x acts
-No inserting objects
-No bodily fluids (yes, that includes everything)
-No touching or getting physical with the crowd. No involving audience members
(ex: pulling audience up to perform)
-No live animals on stage
-No performing while intoxicated
-Must be clothed directly before & after performance

PERFORMER GUIDELINES:
-Do not have to get n**e to compete
-Can have a friend video you, but staff must be informed before to know this has been cleared.
-Winners are chosen solely based on crowd applause monitored by a decibel reader.
-After placing in the competition 3 times, performers graduate out and are welcome back as openers in the future.
-Nothing super messy / clean up any messes.
-Don’t chose songs with the N word unless you are Black

CROWD CONDUCT:
-Zero tolerance for racism, transphobia, misogyny.
-Consent- centred space.
Don’t touch people or offer unsolicited comments.
-No body shaming. Not even yourself. Leave that baggage at the door
-Just Be Cool, OK?
-If you see something that doesn’t sit right, plz flag it to staff or volunteers.
