Orange Shirt Day honours the victims, survivors and descendants of indigenous children abducted from their home and sent to residential schools by a government that still maintains power and we’re all forced to pay taxes too.

Residential schools were a part of a state sponsored cultural genocide. One that still persists today.

Despite the tireless efforts of indigenous people advocating every and any way possible- the end to this ongoing genocide, and action toward truth and reconciliation has not happened in a meaningful way on the federal, provincial or even municipal level.

We should always be working in our own ways to decolonize and support indigenous community.

But importantly on this day, over the next week, month, whatever is takes - read or listen to the 94 Calls to Action.

🛎️OPENER INTRO
Lethal Lily / Lethal Lily is the founder of Inverted Entertainment, a local performer owned and operated entertainment company that provides mobile pole performances at festivals, events, venues, and more.

Having worked in pole entertainment and nightlife industries for almost two decades, Lily envisioned a performer led approach centered around respect and care for the performer’s autonomy and well-being leading to the creation of Inverted Entertainment.

She has been professionally pole dancing for 5 years and has performed at Pride events, Tattoo Shows, for WCT, and on stage alongside notable DJs at Festivals and more. She can also be found producing pole/dance shows in Kamloops and teaching pole classes .

As an ambassador for the visibility and destigmatization of the art of pole and for the rights of the workers who pioneered and created it, Lily continues to aspire towards creating more ethical and inclusive performance opportunities in her work.

We are SO lucky to welcome Lily to the Rent Cheque stage this coming Friday Sept 25th The Cobalt
