Vancouver Neo-Alternative Tango Tango & Blues Fusion Dance Blues, Swing and Tango dance have been around for a long time but fusing them all together as a dance form is new.

The concept of integrating three of the most popular dances is exiting. Even so the music from the th

ree genres has to be chosen wisely for it to mix well with the different dance forms. When we talk about tango it is not the traditional Argentine tango music, It is modern music that has a ebb add flow that tango can be dance to so is called alternative tango. For blues it is what is called drag-or slow blues, the music will be slower, sultry and will have a long drag to the phrasing so has a burlesque music feel to it. For blues swing it is more uptempo then drag blues so it will have a swing feel and tempo but danced blues style.

​What makes all the more interesting is that you can bring pretty much any dance style you are use to and fuse it into this music and dance. For people beginning it is dirt simple to get up and running on this. There are no investment in learning a set of figures. This is all about getting use to doing sultry moves then putting anything that your imagination can think of into it. It is improvisation at its best

Parking not a issue on Howle st after 7pm - reduced pay parking @ $2.50 hr (NB parking guy does not usually come back after 8:30) also underground parking at the Holiday Inn on Howle st.

I am back from Buenos Aires with some new ideas and our first Alternative Milonga of the year. We are adding some Neo-Tango to our playlist to make it more exciting.

The playlist now is a mix of Neo (Nuevo), alternative and blues it should be fun and electrifying with more energy.

A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF NEO-TANGO ALTERNITIVE

Neo-alterative is similar to traditional tango in movements however it is the exact opposite on everything taditonal tango is. Taditonal tango focuses' on close embrace and usually slower structured / well defined movement with music being mostly melody and milato .

Alternative tango focusses a open embrace free style and on a spring kind of movement essentially pushing the partner away and then recoil like a yo-yo momentum to create a lot of off-axis movements. . The music is mostly a strong tempo or mystical lyrical . It can be any kind of music as long as it has a ebb and flow to it.
