Last Friday, the storage locker which housed nearly all of the business’s - Lip Sync’s - inventory was ravaged by fire & then (thankfully) doused in water from the working sprinkler system.
I, Natalie - the founder of this small business - am a victim of arson.
While I am upset that irreplaceable childhood momentos and tools & decor I’ve stock-piled for the bar are gone, I’m so thankful that my family and I are safe.
What was lost: seating (couch & chairs), sentimental value keyboard for piano ballad karaoke nights(!), plateware, glassware, bar tools, pop up supplies, branded cups, merchandise (hand-made candles, business cards, party favours, mugs & more), area rugs, artwork & prints, tile…
Our lock was cut by firefighters and our belongings were dragged out of the locker so that the fire damage could be assessed. I was not informed of this until days later. Many more items than those listen above are assumed stolen.
Masked up, because the air quality is still atrocious in the unit, my partner and I sifted through so much debris to salvage anything we could.
I’ve been grateful to have access to this space which has helped make so many small business dreams come true over the last year. It’s unbelievable that this has happened, because the odds are so slim.
Luckily, I’ve invested in insurance for this very reason & we simply have to meet the insurance company with a buy in of $1k. Any help, including shares is appreciated. Even if you only take the time to read this post, I will always know that Lip Sync has brought smiles to so many of your faces.
For now, our flagship location is on hold. I will revive Lip Sync again when the time is right. We will find a great home on Church Street.
