March 31 2020 we lost a leader, friend and brother. With 2 years of lockdowns and restrictions on gatherings we have not been able to get together to celebrate the life of John Tsai. This Friday April 1, inside The uptown Zoo we start a new night of old school hip hop, reggae and RnB and want to pay tribute to the life of Johnny.

May 1, 2015 District Nightclub opened its doors for the first time with one goal...to build a family. Unfortunately, we now must say goodbye. While we are sad to say goodbye, we are proud to say that we achieved our goal.

Sadly, there will be no more Anniversary events, Nightmare on King Street Halloween costume contests, Christmas night meet ups or New Years Eve celebrations...But we will always have our memories that were built our dance floor and within our walls. It is difficult to find the words to express our gratitude for each of you that walked through our doors...all we can say is THANK YOU.

To every single team member that joined our family over the years, you are all special and we could not have built those memories without you. Our building is now sold and will soon be replaced by something new, but what will last forever are those nights we worked together, side by side to build those memories together...again, all we can say is THANK YOU.

To our fallen leader John Tsai, thank you for helping us build something we are all proud of. The entire District Family misses you but we know you are here with us in spirit to say goodbye.

As always, remember to dance, sing, and smile...No attitude.

Yesterday the District Nightclub family lost one of its own. It's with a heavy heart that we have to accept that one of our founding partners John Tsai, passed away due to complications from the COVID-19 virus.

John was a tremendous leader who was Manager for many years and will be deeply missed by all present and past staff. John was a hardworking and dedicated person who would be quick to do any job necessary and work side by side with every team member.

John cared deeply about each and every team member, but also for any person who walked in the doors. He was there every day to offer the best experience possible... His tireless work ethic, his insight and his smile will be missed.

John was loved by so many in the community and we are so thankful to see the outpouring of love and support for his family and friends who are mourning this loss.

We plan to honour John with a very special party in the future when we can all safely celebrate his tremendous life. In the mean time, Rest In Peace John.
