It is with a heavy heart that we make our first post of the new year about a special sapphire family member that has passed away just recently...
Orest Patraschuk was more than just a sound guy to us. He was a piece of the puzzle to help make us what we are today.
This picture is where he would always be and also put a smile on his face. He loved the music industry and when he was behind this sound board looking into the stage like this he was like a little kid all over again and again every single time!❤️
He was a part of our working family for almost 15 years and helped us go from Gotchas to Sapphire and also recently the big change over to our sister club Level to Gotham as well. He did countless shows with us over that span from COG weekends to Halloween and big artists such as Nelly and Tech N9ne as well. Who would have thought from the first time hiring him to do D12 back in the early 2000’s would turn into what it was today🙏🙏
He was a wealth of knowledge and had many stories from doing shows for big names in the 90’s in the big cities like Vancouver and Toronto to small country festivals in Saskatchewan. He worked all over Kelowna and I’m sure everyone loved him just as much as we did.
We feel privileged to have had him on the team for as long as we did and he will leave a big hole to fill in the music community. Once things get back to normal one day soon and shows start happening again we will tip a glass to the man, the myth, the legend and know that he won’t be easy to replace 🙏
I’m sure that if you were a regular at the club and for the amount of DJ, live, and hip hop shows that he’s done for us, you would have either seen him chilling in the crowd always with his IPad in his hand and Eddy looking for him to tell him to turn the highs down and bass up (which he refused and told him that he’s the professional) 😂
The best part was at the end of the night when the compliments started flowing in from either the patrons, Tour managers, promoters or the artists themselves. He would find Eddy or Tony and say how good of a job he did and his rates just went up double! Haha
Rest easy up there buddy and know that grounding issue you say we always had (but not to sure if we did). We promise to get that looked at🤣
RIP OREST
