CLOSED TONIGHT

Due to an electrical failure affecting the entire street, Stammbar will unfortunately remain closed tonight.

The problem is outside of our control and we have no choice but to wait for the electricity network to be fully restored.

We’ll be back as soon as the power is.

A few months ago, we were proud to unveil our newly renovated basement.

Improved ventilation, new toilets, a more practical urinal, upgraded facilities… Important and necessary improvements that we were genuinely proud of. Proud to offer you a cleaner, more comfortable and more functional space.

Last night, once again, our facilities were deliberately damaged: doors ripped off, dispensers broken…

Of course, seeing something we have built, improved and maintained being destroyed makes us angry.

But what perhaps affects us even more is that nobody reacted.
Nobody alerted the team. Nobody said anything.

A cruising bar is a community space. It doesn’t work simply because there are people opening it, cleaning it, maintaining it and working there. It also works because of the people who come here.

That means looking out for each other and respecting consent.
It means respecting the space and putting your waste in the bins provided.
But it also means reacting when someone is damaging the place we share.

We don’t want to turn Stammbar into a space under constant surveillance, introduce more controls or make access more complicated. We would rather continue to believe that a place like ours can also work through a sense of collective responsibility.

So if you see something wrong, please tell us. Find a member of the team. A simple warning can make all the difference.

And to those who chose to trash our place last night: no, we don’t thank you.

To everyone else: thank you for taking care of it.

It’s your place too.

Women, allies, trans and non-binary people support our communities and are part of them, yet they often find themselves excluded once cruising spaces or darkrooms enter the picture, whether through rules, behaviours or cultural habits.

Why are these spaces still mostly designed around cis male experiences?
What impact does this exclusion have?
And how can we create more inclusive environments while still acknowledging the feelings, limits and concerns expressed by some members of our audience?

Because q***r spaces are also spaces where we can question ourselves, listen, disagree, evolve and grow together.

This discussion does not aim to provide definitive answers or ready-made solutions, but rather to create space for exchange around the realities, tensions and challenges that exist within cruising and darkroom environments.
