When settlers first arrived on Sydney shores the Irish made up 10% of the First Fleet and even more over time.
A young Irish Surgeon John White would set up a medical camp for those weary sailors, but also insisted on caring for local Aboriginal tribes as well, believing his job was to care for all.
He oversaw the hardest times of all on these lands and we think it’s only fitting to raise a pint for him on St Patricks Day.
