βThree years ago, I came down to Melbourne for a few days on my own to see a show. I loved the city and the people so much that I felt so immersed in everything β as if every step was important. It was the first time that I believed that people truly appreciated me for who I was and nothing else.

I chose to take the risk in embracing a step into the unknown; I decided to move to Melbourne a month after that, leaving behind everything that I knew. Almost everyone I have met since moving here, no matter where I met them, were connected to one another; like I was part of a tribe.

At the age of 19, I went to my first doof β ankle deep in the mud at the Organic Audio stage, I realised that techno was not repetitive; it was a journey that took me to all of these places and situations that I had never seen before in my mind. I felt like I was shaking the world. It was then that I started searching for more of what made me feel that way.

Through doofing I made a heap of friends in Adelaide, who were DJs, which made me believe that I could do it too. This led me to apply for the Your Shot DJ competition, where I met Joel; a quirky, monkey-like creature with an armful of wristbands. Joel would later give me my first gig at Progression Sessions two weeks after meeting him. Due to the influx of amazing opportunities handed to me from all of these amazing friends, I believed I was truly on the right path.

A decline in my mental health led to darker and more experimental styles of music resonating with me, helping me to move through the negative headspace I was in and shedding light in my dark space.

So many experiences that I have had because of music have been pivotal points in my life. I wish to create these experiences for other people through my feelings. When a new genre or style of music resonates with me, it feels like it opens my mind and amplifies my love for myself, my existence, my path. I believe that when people are playing music for you, there is a two-way exchange of energy where someone can make you feel their experiences through their music. A temple of you.

I hope that as I travel this path, I continue to inspire myself and other people through the love of music.β
