3D was a weekly Friday night club which ran across 3 levels at the infamous CBD Nightclub in McKillop St, Melbourne, which played host to hundred's of interstate & International DJ's including many of the biggest names in the business until it closed late in 2013. 3D still remains as Melbourne's longest running weekly Hard Dance club, running every Friday night for 10 years, outlasting all of the competition, while always doing their best to remain 'underground'. Over the years, 3D became well known for always giving up & coming DJ's a go by reserving the first hour in the main room every week for new DJ's & running multiple DJ competitions, giving countless DJ's a chance to play their first ever club gig.
In the main room (Level 1) 3D was always known as being predominantly a Hard Trance/ Hard Dance club, but offered a variety of different sounds across Levels 2 & 3, including Electro House, Psy Trance, Hard House, Techno, Drum & Bass & what many people may not know, 3D was the first club to run a weekly Hardstyle night in Melbourne back when Hardstlye was considered a 'dirty word' by many other promoters & was also the first club to push the Happy Hardcore sound when no one else dared!
3D held a strong belief in Unity, & not Competition! Always actively trying to bring different crews together instead of competing against each other to help grow the Melbourne Rave scene as a whole. Over the years 3D ran many different nights in conjunction with other crews including Hard Kandy, Bass Station, 5AM, Wet Musik, BPM, PHD and many more! Level 2 was often opened up to different crews who wanted to run their own club nights or events, giving them the chance to experience what it takes to organize & run a party, without the associated financial risks involved in running their own event. Many of these crews went on to run successful events around Melbourne, while others continued to run regular nights at 3D.
3D played a major role in growing & keeping the Melbourne Rave Scene alive for many years & i feel proud & extremely lucky to have been a part of it. (St. Luke)
