FRONT 2 BACK x THE ROLLING STONES 🎸
This Wednesday 12th of August, Ekka public holiday at Stan's , we’re diving into three records from one of the greatest and most influential rock ’n’ roll bands of all time. For more than six decades, The Rolling Stones have defined what it means to be a rock band. Built around the unmistakable partnership of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, their music pulled from blues, rock ’n’ roll, soul and R&B to create a sound, attitude and swagger that became entirely their own.
This week we’ll hear three iconic Stones albums exactly as they were intended, from the first track to the last on vinyl.
💙 Black and Blue (1976)
A loose, groove heavy record that captured the Stones in transition. Blending rock with funk, reggae and soul, Black and Blue introduced Ronnie Wood to the fold and delivered classics including Fool to Cry and Memory Motel.
🔥 Some Girls (1978)
The Stones at their sharpest. Raw, restless and unmistakably New York, Some Girls saw the band embrace disco, punk and the energy of the late ’70s without losing their rock ’n’ roll core. Featuring Miss You, Beast of Burden and Shattered, it became one of the biggest records of their career.
👅 Tattoo You (1981)
Packed with swagger from the opening riff of Start Me Up, Tattoo You became another defining Stones record. Moving from hard driving rock into the soulful second half of the album, it’s a reminder of just how effortlessly the band could shift between grit, groove and melody.
Once the albums finish, we’ll keep the music flowing with a specially curated playlist inspired by the artists who shaped the Stones and the musicians who shared their world. Expect blues, rock ’n’ roll, soul and rhythm & blues from legends including Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Richard, Otis Redding, Gram Parsons and more.
Three albums. One legendary band.
