Hammer Films’ legendary 1958 Dracula, starring Christopher Lee as Count Dracula and Peter Cushing as Van Helsing, is returning in a new 4K restoration with long-lost footage restored after more than 60 years.
When the film was first released, some scenes were considered too intense for censors because of their blood, sensuality, and shocking vampire imagery. Parts of this missing material were reportedly preserved only in the original Japanese theatrical version before being rediscovered decades later.
This is not just another horror re-release. It is the resurrection of a Gothic landmark.
Christopher Lee’s Dracula changed vampire cinema forever. He was not a distant shadow in a cape. He was elegant, physical, seductive, terrifying, and almost animal-like. With his piercing stare, fangs, black cloak, and aristocratic menace, Lee helped create the modern image of the vampire that still haunts popular culture today.
Nearly 70 years later, Dracula is coming back from the grave — restored, darker, and closer to the vision audiences were once forbidden to see.
