Charlie’s Last Stand
Located on the corner of Jessie and Beardy Streets, Charlie’s Last Stand will be a very different venue for Armidale. We chose the name as a homage to Charlie Pavlou who wouldn’t bow to developer pressure. During the mid-1960s several prominent buildings on the western end of the CBD were demolished to make way for the Woolworths’ store. One shop remained standing, and its story became affectionately known as ‘Charlie’s Last Stand’.
