Panache, Adelaide French Theatre

Panache, Adelaide French Theatre Formed in 2014, Panache Adelaide French Theatre is an amateur, not-for-profit theatre group performing French plays in French with surtitles in English.

In 2014, the group Panache Adelaide French Theatre inc. was born as an independent French
theatre group, inspired by actors and singers who had for many years performed at the former
evenings of café-théâtre and theatre organised under the auspices of the Alliance Française
d’Adelaïde. After a successful inaugural production in October 2014 - Molière Alive and Well and Living in
Adelaide - Panache

has undertaken a programme of several productions each year. Its main activity is to produce and promote theatre in French, concentrating on the rich theatrical
tradition which has existed in France and other French-speaking countries for hundreds of years. Panache has put on a range of cabaret/theatre/musical productions each year. Highlights have
included Le Visiteur (EE Schmitt) and Antigone (J Anouilh) in 2015, Le Prénom (A de la
Patellière/M Delaporte) in 2016, An Evening on the Left Bank (2017), Les Fourberies de Scapin
(Molière) in 2019 and our participation in the inaugural Auburn FrenchFest in September 2021. Panache also presents puppet show performances for young children and a wide range of musical
events covering many facets of 20 th century French song. All Panache’s performances are in French, and are supported by surtitles in English, ensuring that
people who do not speak French can easily understand what is happening on stage.

Panache's first show this year is titled "En Vacances" - it's a musical with dramatic scenes in context with the 15 songs in show. It is set in a French caravan park in the 1960s - 1970s. Directed by Andrew McKenzie, the musical has been put together by Panache's President Jean-François Gavanon. It promises to be a lot of fun. Performances will be on Thursday 4th, Friday 5th and Saturday 6th JUNE at 7.30 p.m. with a matinee on Saturday 6th at 2.30 p.m. We will let you know when bookings will start. If anyone has a photo or cartoon of a French caravan park in the 1960s-1970s please share with Panache at [email protected] maybe we can incorporate it in the poster for the show. (You will get a credit for the photo).

Performances are in French but no need to be fluent.
Music skills including singing would be ideal.
Age somewhere between 30 and 45.
We produce 2 shows a year May and November.
No money but a lot of fun.
