A couple of years ago, hosted a beautiful retrospective on Giant Step, looking back at the early days (1990–1995) and how the club helped shape NYC and global music culture.
The event took place at , where it all started — full circle! I was honored to be part of a panel hosted by David Hershkovits, with Erica Lee, our first-ever employee and early spark behind Giant Step, and DJ Smash, whose sound helped define those nights.
Such an inspiring moment to relive that energy, creativity, and connection.
✨ Enjoy!

Last night we celebrated the release of Mark Ronson’s book “Night People - How To Be A DJ In ‘90s New York City”. The book is not only about Mark’s trails and tribulations as a young DJ but also about downtown NY in 1990s. It was fitting that Giant Step produced the party at Artspace at PUBLIC Hotel which is owned by the legendary Ian Schrager. Music was provided by luminaries such as Jeff Brown, Belinda Becker and Stretch Armstrong plus a live performance from Souls of Mischief. The room was packed with NY nightlife legends, friends and a couple of well known celebrities. Definitely a night to remember.

We want to thank everyone who came out to celebrate 35 years of Giant Step with us last Wednesday at SummerStage in Central Park.
It was a truly beautiful night filled with magical performances, incredible people, and the spirit of what Giant Step has always been about: great music and community.
From the legendary Cymande, the iconic Asha Puthli, rising talent Zacchae’us Paul, and DJ K.Tea, each artist brought something unforgettable to the stage.
A big thank you also to those of you who kept the celebration going late into the night at Nublu, with Mark Ronson and DJ Spinna.
The whole night was a powerful reminder of the music & community we’ve built over these 35 years. Thank you for being part of it.

As we continue to celebrate Giant Steps 35th anniversary with our celebration concerts at Summer Stage in Central Park, we want to celebrate and acknowledge Giant Step’s president Esther Yoon. Esther joined the company in 2012 and was instrumental in transitioning Giant Step from a music-based marketers who helped break artists like Amy Winehouse and Jamiroquai in US, record label that had success with artists like Nuyorican Soul and Donnie and concert/club company into an award-winning agency specializing in music and culture. Without Esther, projects with brands like Absolut, Bacardi, Samsung, Marriott andIntel would not have been possible. Bringing her knowledge and experience to the company. So we salute Esther and all the great work she has done and continues to do for Giant Step.

As we gear up for Giant Step’s 35th Anniversary celebration at SummerStage in Central Park, we want to take a moment to show love and appreciation to someone who helped start it all Mr. Jonathan Rudnick.

Jonathan was the co-founder of Giant Step, alongside Maurice Bernstein, and was with the company from the very beginning until 2001. Together, they opened doors literally and figuratively building what would become one of the most influential music brands in the world.

From groundbreaking club nights to legendary artist launches, Jonathan played a pivotal role in shaping the culture and pushing boundaries. His vision and energy helped lay the foundation for the Giant Step legacy that continues today.

While no longer with the company, Jonathan’s impact on Giant Step — and on global music culture — is undeniable. Today, he’s based in Los Angeles, and his company Workd’s Alive produces shows and works with a new generation of artists like Jimetta Rose

We salute Jonathan for his incredible contributions past, present, and future.
Thank you, Jonathan. Here’s to 35 years and beyond.

As we gear up for our 35th anniversary show at SummerStage in Central Park on July 23, we’re taking a look back at some of our unforgettable moments at this iconic venue.
In 2011, we hosted a now-legendary night featuring Lee Fields, Rich Medina, King Britt, and Fitz and the Tantrums.
Fast forward to 2013, when we brought the soulful sounds of Shuggie Otis, Hiatus Kaiyote, and José James to the stage.
In 2015, we lit up the park with Gilles Peterson, Afrika Bambaataa, and Quantic.
And in 2017, the late, great Roy Ayers gave us a truly special performance alongside Seun Kuti.
Join us as we make new memories on July 23 with Cymande, Asha Puthli, Zacchae’us Paul, and DJ K.Tea.
It’s free, it’s in the heart of NYC, and it’s going to be magic.
