The bass is one of the most essential pillars of reggae music. For more than three decades, George “Fully” Fullwood has been instrumental in shaping the sound of Jamaican music, helping define its depth, rhythm, and pulse.
Soul Syndicate, originally known as the Rhythm Raiders, was one of Jamaica’s top reggae session bands from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s. The group played on countless recordings and became a backbone of the island’s studio scene.
Word, Sound and Power was formed in 1976 as Peter Tosh’s backing band after he left The Wailers. The band toured with Tosh in the United States in 1976 and in Europe in 1978, and backed him at the historic One Love Peace Concert in 1978.
For that concert, the lineup included Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Al Anderson, Mikey Chung, Robbie Lyn, Keith Sterling, Uziah Thompson, and Noel Simms.
