Oops! Disco Ocean City, NJ 1978 -79 Tribute Page Oops! Disco Disco was located in Ocean City, New Jersey. It was owned and operated by Bill and Judy Defeo. The disco was in operation from 1977-1979. Disco.

The disco was for teens only, and featured an upscale disco environment with a state of the art sound system, DJ booth, wall of lights, fog machine, a snack bar and coin operated games and other attractions designed just for teens. Disco was very successful in it's first 2 years of operation. However, as punk rock became more popular, the disco craze faded. Also, the disco became a political footb

all due to the personal campaign of a particular member of the Ocean City Police Force to close down Oops! He lived near the disco, and was often found outside the disco while off-duty, harassing and intimidating the young patrons. The political pressure, negative press and changing tides of music brought an end to the disco in late 1979. But Oops! Disco made a statement for the times, and for a small but loyal group of teens, Oops! Disco will also have a special place in their hearts!
