Two glasses of wine + one sunset + way too many " ALSO this one time underwater” stories = my kind of weekend.

If you’ve ever wanted to see what the Philippines looks like beneath the surface, and then share a bottle or two after I’m your person.

Let’s go!

Woke up early to the sound of rain, finished my errands before 10, made indecent progress on a painting, and was whisked away to dinner.

I was treated well tonight, so naturally, I behaved beautifully in return.

A little rain, a little paint,a little wine, a little candlelight.

Not a bad Saturday. Not bad at all.

My name is Erin Estrella - artist and muse in Manila.

I write about desire: beautiful rooms, wine, reefs, food, and men who know how to read instructions, literature and the room.

The short version of who I am is in my bio.

The long version?
That's for those who linger.

I danced in clubs for a few years.
The older girls taught me everything I knew.

This year, I finally started taking “proper” dance lessons at a pole studio.

That’s when I learned my style of dancing is considered old-school freestyle by pole instructors. I found that funny, and a little sad at the same time.

The focus is very different.

In bars, the goal is to get someone to table you, book a dance, stay a little longer. You learn how to read a room, hold attention, make someone feel wanted from six feet away under bad lighting and loudmusic.

Pole studio dancing feels more focused on technique, athleticism, and the art itself.

Not that stripping has no art. Personally, I think it’s one of the rawest forms of self expression and sensuality. There’s something beautiful about women teaching themselves how to survive, seduce, perform, improvise, and command a room with almost no formal training at all.

Stripping and Pole arts...just different worlds born around the same pole.

Here's me struggling to learn the choreography from my classes. I do better with freestyle.

(Hope Meta doesn't flag this!!!)

A small thing, perhaps, to most people. A cleaning. A cared-for smile.
But some of us know that the little things are never little when you spent years putting yourself last.

For a long time, my money went elsewhere. I was helping send my sibling to school, making sure one of us got to the finish line. Now they’re a doctor, and only in the last three years have I been able to afford regular dental cleaning for myself.

So this smile means more than it seems.

It means life has softened, even just a little.
It means I am finally being taken care of, too.

To the people who support me, book me, and make it possible for me to live with a bit more grace and ease - thank you. Truly. You help give me back the small things I once had to set aside.

And sometimes, the small things are everything.

For fifteen years, I listened to other people’s stories.
Now, I think it’s time I told you mine.

Episode 1 of The Companion’s Notebook is out now. A little teaser for season 1!

Tonight’s story is called Engkanto.

My cat has claimed my work uniform, which means work is officially postponed until further notice.

Maybe that’s fine. For fifteen years I’ve listened to other people’s stories across tables, over wine, in quiet rooms.

I think it’s time my own story finally had a voice.

Turning 38 in a few days.

With it comes a small shift in how I do my work. New ways to tell stories, new ways to connect.

Let’s just say… you’ll be hearing more from me soon.
