No matter what people think, you have to admit โ Tuchel is making a serious statement. He clearly doesnโt care about reputation, hype or past achievements. This is all about form, tactical discipline, chemistry, and who fits his system.
The biggest shock? Palmer and Foden missing out. Two of the most talented attacking players England has right now, but Tuchel seems to believe they either havenโt delivered consistently for England or simply donโt fit the balance he wants.
Then thereโs Maguire. Whatever you say about his club form, heโs always turned up for England in major tournaments. Dropping such an experienced figure is a massive call โ and a risky one.
Instead, Tuchel is backing a younger, more energetic group:
