Helberg BBQ, a locally-owned two-time Texas Monthly top 50 BBQ joint here in Waco, has a wonderful fruit salad available on their summer menu. They soak fresh blueberries, watermelon, and mint in lime simple syrup before dishing it up as a refreshing treat to pair with their award-winning BBQ. But what to do with the leftover fruit salad syrupy goodness? Rather than throw the syrup out, they reached out to us at Sloane’s to see if we could have some fun with it, and fruit salad summer was born!
