Bar 1919 San Antonio Come experience a time before bootleggers, speakeasies, moonshine, bathtub gin, and rum runners.
(1974)

Revered as an ode to craftsmanship, American history, and whisk(e)y, 1919 takes you a step back in time to the era of prohibition. Hidden away in the Blue Star Complex of San Antonio, like most speakeasies of yesteryear, you wouldn’t see 1919 if you hadn’t already heard of it.

Third Thursday Tasting: B**r & Cheese
Thursday, October 15 • 7:30 PM • Bar 1919

B**r and cheese have been sharing a table for a long time. This Third Thursday, we’re giving the pairing the attention it deserves.

We’ll work through a handpicked lineup of b**rs alongside carefully matched cheeses, exploring how malt, hops, texture, salt, richness, and acidity can completely change what you notice in the glass—and on the plate.

Expect a relaxed, guided evening with plenty to taste and a little useful knowledge along the way. No need to be a b**r expert. Just bring an appetite and a willingness to try something new.

As always, we keep these tastings small so everyone gets a proper seat and a proper pour.

The Apothecary menu has been refreshed again—this time with a seasonal update. Think bright citrus, fig, root b**r, mezcal, watermelon, rambutan, spice, and a few house-built details doing the heavy lifting behind the glass.

Introducing the latest Apothecary lineup:
R.A.M. | James Moreno
Substance Abuse | Diego Velasco
Know Your Roots | Jonathan Hershberger
Monte Blue | Robert Turner
The Rind Down | Arthur De La Rosa
U.F.O. | Untitled Fig Offering | Chris Sac

From caramelized fig and cilantro tincture to homemade vanilla ice cream, watermelon syrup, fig leaf cordial, and Fresno Cocchi Americano, this update brings a sharp mix of fresh, rich, bitter, bright, and spirit-forward builds.

These won’t be around forever—just for the seasonal update. We’ll be sharing the stories and craft behind each one soon.

Third Thursday Tasting: Bourbon
Thursday, September 17 • 7:30 PM • Bar 1919

Journey downstairs for an evening centered on bourbon—its American roots, its time in oak, and the details that give each bottle its own character. This guided tasting will move through a thoughtfully selected lineup designed to show just how much range can exist within one of America’s most storied spirits.

We’ll explore the influence of mash bills, barrel aging, proof, and distilling style as we work through each pour. Expect familiar notes of caramel and vanilla alongside baking spice, toasted oak, dark fruit, and deeper charred flavors.

Led by our expert team, the evening is built for longtime bourbon drinkers and those looking to understand the spirit a little better. Good wh***ey, a little history, and a proper look at what makes bourbon bourbon.

Seating is limited. Reserve now : https://www.opentable.com/booking/experiences-availability?rid=1272685&restref=1272685&experienceId=797424&utm_source=external&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=shared

THE I-35 BAR EXCHANGE
BAR HACIENDA AT BAR 1919
Tuesday, September 1 · 8PM–12AM

Eighty miles of interstate sit between Austin and Southtown. For one night, they don't.

It is our privilege to welcome Bar Hacienda behind our bar — the Rainey Street lounge with the leather chairs, the Persian rugs, and a mezcal program worth the drive. They know what it is to be found only by those already looking.

Two guest cocktails, poured for one night only:

CARAGIGILO — Reposado tequila, sweet vermouth, miso, Licor 43 & spent coffee

HACIENDA HIGHBALL — Zancudo Espadín mezcal, toasted coconut, clarified citrus & soda

Our full menu is pouring alongside them all evening.

The Exchange runs the length of the day across San Antonio. We are the nightcap. Bar Hacienda pours until midnight. We keep the lights low until two.

No reservations. No sign out front. Down the dimly lit stairs at the Blue Star Arts Complex, the way it has always been done.

Third Thursday Tasting: Tequila
Thursday, August 20 • 7:30 PM • Bar 1919

This month, Third Thursday is a special collaboration with Araceli Costilla Sharp, joining us for an evening centered around tequila.

Together, we’ll work through a curated lineup of tequilas, exploring the character of the agave, the craft behind each bottle, and the details that make every pour different.

Whether tequila is already your go-to or you’re looking to understand it a little better, this collaboration is a chance to taste, compare, ask questions, and learn from someone who knows the spirit well.

Seating is limited. Reserve now at: https://www.opentable.com/booking/experiences-availability?rid=1272685&restref=1272685&experienceId=780203&utm_source=external&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=shared
