Some w**es are found the best way- on accident! We credit Frances Key for getting the wrong code when what we really wanted was a little sherry.

Turns out, this mistake was meant to be; when this dry Pedro Ximinez made in Elqui, Chile by Vina Mayu showed up & left us all perplexed. All we could do was stick it in the fridge, and see what this was all about!

We later found out this gem is brought to us from our favorite folks at Vinelore! This beauty is sustainably grown at 6,320 feet above sea level in the Andes, giving this beauty vibrant acidity, a beautiful mid-palate for cooler temperature, and a touch of white blossom, lemon, and barely-ripe peach with a drawn & lingering mineral finish.

We always want to bring new discoveries to you, so we can only pass on the favor of our happy accident! Reprint this week- this is only one of LOTS of new! (Stay tuned!)

Meet our sommelier’s W**e of the Week 🍷

“This Grenache reminds me what it’s like to fall in love. Every single time I pour a glass of this w**e, I’m apt to immediately smile. W**e can be as simple as enjoyment, and as complex and brilliantly detailed as a symphony that I’ll spend time breaking apart and analyzing its cadence- depending on my mood. The right w**e can remind me of a feeling. This one’s a feeling; of summer nights and good conversations. Of time with your favorite people and a day without worries. It’s the feeling of being curled up on the right shoulder, and catching eyes across a candlelit table.

This w**e’s had a following since we put it on the list, and if you haven’t tried single-varietal Grenache in a while- this may be beckoning to you! Don’t let its light ruby color fool you, it’s beautifully structured, surprising deep, with notes of wild alpine strawberry, coastal thyme, and rose petal.

As usual, we bring you unique & authentic w**es made by real people, with a focus on sustainability & quality rather than clout or a brand name with a mass production model.

Part owner. Part chaos coordinator. Part reason any of this works.

She runs the parts nobody sees — the schedules, the systems, the hundred decisions a day that nobody thanks anyone for making. The rest of us just get to look good because she’s already handled it. She’ll tell you she just does the boring stuff. The boring stuff is the whole business.

She shows up, figures it out, makes us laugh when we probably shouldn’t be laughing, and somehow keeps the wheels on this beautiful little thing.

Melancholy wouldn’t be Melancholy without you.
