New night for disco! Be there or be a zebra.

Last month I launched a new monthly disco-oriented residency at Easy Tiger called Tiger Stripes — it's set for the first Thursday of each month.

Kicked things off in style with special guest Victor Rosado, who shared the booth with David Mancuso at The Loft and Larry Levan at Paradise Garage.

After soaking up inspiration from an original of the era, this month I'll be putting my own stamp on the night.

Pulling some records for another Burnt Toast afters tonight. This unassuming, no frills party is known for keeping the St. Pete underground going extra bonus hours with “crispy jams.” We’ll be at the usual spot.

If you don’t know, RSVP to [email protected]

I’ll be providing the atmosphere at my ol’ stomping grounds, The Factory, for Creative Pinellas’ fundraiser event with FloridaRAMA today.

Come on out, say hi, and support the arts.

Our first Thursday outing since Jimpster… a night of disco with NYC legend and past guest Victor Rosado celebrating the launch of a new monthly Thursday at Easy Tiger with our resident Austen van der Bleek.

Tiger Stripes with Victor Rosado (NYC/MIA) & Austen van der Bleek

An alternative to the trend of disco as an aesthetic gimmick and instead presented authentically as the music and culture it was and remains.

This is not a throwback or commercial night, it’s an underground disco party, with the launch featuring a figure that was actually there, often filling in for David Mancuso at The Loft and Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage, as well as guesting at Studio 54. You can expect some iconic classics, obscure/overlooked gems, and new productions that do justice to the original spirit.

Don’t dress up, dress down for comfort and dancing. There’s no cover, just bring an open mind and loose limbs.

Be there and earn your stripes in a style of music that was the soundtrack to a social and countercultural revolution.

This will be a quintessential Sunshine City cut. First release from a brand new label out of Detroit.

"CDR plans to be a vessel for more human connection in dance music and beyond in the digital age."

A beautifully jazzy and soulful deep house rendition with The Clark Sisters’ "You Brought the Sunshine" vocals.

The shop usually only secures 2–3 copies of any releases we carry, so make sure you grab one before they're gone.

A new night of authentic disco in St. Pete is launching soon in September, Tiger Stripes, at Easy Tiger — monthly every first Thursday.

To kick things off appropriately, I've invited one of the figures that was actually there, and is as close to the source as you can get these days, Victor Rosado. He was a regular at both the Paradise Garage, with Larry Levan, and The Loft, with David Mancuso, in addition to a guest DJ at Studio 54.

It's been my pleasure to get to know him over the last few years, sharing records through digging together and purchasing some of his collection.

Recently, I've been pulling some new dance music releases for him through Tangible Record Shop. It's always rewarding when someone with his music knowledge and taste appreciates what I've been curating over there.
