This Saturday, OBSERVE, will be hosting a small exhibition of our late friend Silent Servant’s artwork: an intimate, behind the scenes look at some of the iconic pieces he created over the years. A curated selection from his personal archive, these works have graced album covers, t-shirts, flyers, and prints that helped define an entire aesthetic.

Juan Mendez aka Silent Servant was truly a fascinating visionary who not only gifted the world with extraordinary music and untouchable DJ sets, but also shaped the visual language of this Saturday’s headlining guests, SANDWELL DISTRICT. For the entire Los Angeles techno community, Juan’s hometown, his stomping ground, and a scene he championed with unwavering devotion, this night carries a deep and profound significance.

When arriving to the venue Saturday night, please feel free to ask our door staff or any member of our crew where the gallery room is located. We encourage everyone to come early and take it all in, as the exhibition will close around 2 AM.

Each year, we gather in Los Angeles to celebrate music, life, and the community that built the underground we love.
This year, we return for something truly special.

OBSERVE // SANDWELL DISTRICT // LOS ANGELES // 11.29.25

A look back at Los Angeles Techno scene 16 years ago, our crew was still fighting tooth and nail to build a grassroots movement in Los Angeles, often risking everything to create a music community that inspired us. There was only one collective we felt was truly paving the way for a newer, refined, and vital emergence of techno: Sandwell District. We were honored to debut them back in 2009.

Sandwell District is a true collective of legends, Regis, Function, and our hometown hero, dear friend, and legend Silent Servant. That single evening captured the raw essence of the underground and cemented our paths moving forward.

That night in L.A. wasn’t just a party, it was a pulse of rising rebellion.

In less than three weeks, on November 29th, 2025, we are honored to welcome Sandwell District back to Los Angeles. Their new album, End Beginnings, marks a triumphant and poignant return for the enigmatic collective. This weekend will be a night to honor those carving new paths in the future of techno and a moving tribute to their late member and our dear friend Juan Mendez (Silent Servant).

Also joining us will be L.A.’s own Santiago Salazar, Echophon from Detroit, and a rising LA talent that cant be be missed, Negative Effect.

Born & raised in Chula Vista, CA, Kale’s journey in DJ-ing and curating events began in 2019. Over time, her sound has evolved into a melting pot of genres, blending electro, ghetto, club, techno, and Latin influences.

In 2023, she founded B***ydew, focused on filling in the gaps within the music scene while uplifting q***r, POC, and femme artists. Today, she continues to curate events as well as elevate her sound and push diversity within San Diego’s dance music community.

We’re joining forces to bring San Diego something real. The Drippy Pool Club crew has turned this gem into a safe space apart from anything else downtown, and with 1904 + B***ydew in the mix, this collab is making bigger waves than downtown can handle. 💦💦💦

Through the past three summers, these event series have uplifted San Diego’s communities, giving voice to our friends and family with roots from Brazil to Africa to Puerto Rico.

Each one has been a chance to share culture, sound, and connection—and we’ve been proud to support them with the energy and atmosphere that bring every gathering to life.

This Saturdays edition turns it up with a Miami × SoCal fusion of house grooves, juke, and proper bops—built for a booty-shaking day fade. 🍑
