Here's what's happening with the great Bob Hiltermann:

There's a production company called Kinolime that holds a Script-to-Screen Competition each year. The prize for the winning script is that Kinolime produces that screenplay. Their whole process is innovative, because the winner is decided by the voting audience.

Bob Hiltermann's script, "Grateful Deaf," has made it into the final 26 (out of 700 scripts). Right now, through May 25th, audience members are reading the script treatments and voting for their favorites (and if you still want more, feel free to also read the full screenplay). Then, from the top 10, the Kinolime development team will choose the top 3. Finally, this is where the audience votes on which one of the top three scripts Kinolime will make into a film.

If you’d like to read the treatment and vote for “Grateful Deaf,” here's the link to get you there: https://www.kinolime.com/INVITE/CODE/35899805. (If you don’t see “Grateful Deaf,” click on “view all” to the right.)

Thanks for your time. Enjoy voting! And feel free to pass this email on to other potential “Grateful Deaf” voters…

ASL Cabaret is filled with sorrow - our dear sweet friend Clifford Bell has passed into the heavenly Cabaret. He was a friend and mentor to Asl Cabaret who loved us and supported us from the first time he came to one of our shows. He found us wonderful (better then we were used to) venues, recruited talented musicians and singers, assisted us with invaluable insights to producing and generously gave his enthusiastic energy. We can never thank you enough for sharing your knowledge, believing in us and elevating us to heights we never dreamed of when we started. Merci, mon cher.

ANNOUNCEMENT! AWARD & AUDITION Pas d'ASL has been awarded a grant from the LA City Department of Cultural Affairs Performing Arts Division to create a dance honoring Los Angeles's legendary dancer Bella Lewitzky! Bella created an innovative modern dance technique that influenced the world of dance. She also, infamously, stood up to Congress twice! Suing the NEA for their anti-obscenity clause and won. A brilliant, brave and beautiful dancer. I was fortunate to have taken several master classes from her and so am honored and excited to pay tribute to a true heroine of dance. AUDITION: We need dancers with some experience to perform her unique technique. Please contact here - dm; or directly Mona Jean Cedar to set up an audition. I will accommodate your schedule. The performances are April 26, 27, 28. This is very soon so will need to work quickly. Let's dance! 5, 6, 7, 8!

Please sign the petition for equal access in broadcasting of the ASL Performers (not interpreters) to be televised alongside the vocalists at Super Bowl. Daniel Durante (Oscar winner CODA) performs the National Anthem, Model & Actress Angel Piñero signs America the Beautiful, and Dancer/Actor Shaheem Sanchez signing Lift Every Voice and Sing.

Please let NFL & Broadcasters separate viewing on YouTube is not equal access for the Deaf community. The Super Bowl is for everyone. We have been fighting for the same equal screen time since Marlee Matlin performed side by side with Garth Brooks. These are friends and colleagues of mine who have performed in the shows I have produced on stage. Thank you!

1,250 signatures are needed, let’s get there by the end of the day?
