(Jessica) I grew up country dancing! It's how my parents and both sets of grandparents met, so it runs in the family. I had my first dance partner at 5yrs old. That day and the moment I walked into my first country dance place were so magical Cinderella herself couldn't have been more excited!
(Addison) Like most guys, I always hated dancing! I had no idea how to dance. I wanted to be cool and get cute girls. So I made it my mission to learn how to dance. Unfortunately, it wasn't easy. I couldn't tell my right from my left! It was frankly embarrassing!! I always felt stupid and awkward.
(Jessica) Thing is, as a girl, it doesn't matter how much I loved to dance. I couldn't find any guys. To fix that, at 15, I started teaching my partners. From ages 21 to 25, I regularly taught youth groups and formed my own dance program. I wanted to share it with more people but honestly didn't know how...
(Addison) After high school I went on a mission. When I returned I moved down to St George. I soon remembered my passion for dancing and dating. I was determined to dance. One problem... there were NO DANCE HALLS! What?? "Is there NOTHING to do in St George?!" I was furious.
(Jessica) Around this time, I had a good friend who wanted to dance. Our plan was to practice outside every week between classes. He never missed a week and I always missed my second class. After 2 months we grew to about 20 die hards (who never missed) and sometimes up to 75+ people!
(Addison) Finally, after 1 year of pain and suffering, I said to myself, "why don't I just start up a dance hall?" Little did I know, it would be one of the most difficult things I'd ever done. Soon after that decision, I met Jessica and her group of friends! I was so happy that we all wanted to open a place!
(Jessica) I met Addison a year after we started our group. A good look'n guy with passion to dance and to open a dance hall! By the end of our first conversation we thought he might just do it! We all hoped he would. The cold was coming! But nothing seemed to work out... Was it just a hopeless dream?
(Addison) After 2 months of calling hundreds of places we couldn't get ANYTHING... And on top of that the city didn't want dancing in "their city". It looked like our very hopeful idea wasn't too hopeful anymore... We had one last chance. Our last call. After this call I was done. I had already called once before, the answer was no. But, I had to try one last time. She said YES!! It was nothing shy of a miracle!
(Jessica) Sometimes I wondered if anyone really valued what I taught. Did I really have what it took to take this professional? I remember our last night outside. My friends gave me a gift that I still wear with grateful pride. It's a belt buckle. It represents the faith and friendship we built through country dancing! It was all I needed to believe we could do this. "Let's take it to the world!"
(Addison) Today, hundreds of people have come to our dance halls. Many have fallen in love and some even got married! It's funny, originally I wanted to find a place to dance. In the end, I found my wife.
(Jessica) It's a family tradition, I had to meet the love of my life through dance!
(Addison) Jessica and I started dating soon after we met. Not all of our "business meetings" were all about "business" haha! This past June we were married for eternity. This is the magic of our dance hall:)
(Jessica) We weren't the first to find love and friendship through dance and we won't be the last!
