This is an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the fun and excitement of Swing Dancing! We are a group of people in Lakeland, FL that enjoy swing dancing and want others to get a chance to enjoy it too!

Every month, we feature a dancer who’s ruffling our feathers in the best way! Whether they’re a newcomer, a volunteer, or a pillar of the community, we want to celebrate the dancers that make our community what it is! This month, let’s chat with the lovely Kristine!

Q: How and when did you start dancing Lindy Hop?
A: I was taking some dance lessons here in Lakeland. It was mostly ballroom, but included some swing and Latin. I met someone there (Brett) who asked what my favorite dance was, and I said swing. He said “You might want to join us on Monday evenings.” That was the summer of 2024, and I’ve been at LKLD Lindy Hop almost every Monday since!

Q: Tell us about your favorite moment on the dance floor:
A: There are a bunch, but I’ll say my first Birthday Jam. One good song and I got to dance with everyone!

Q: What’s something the community doesn’t know about you?
A: Let me think... Oh, I played league billiards (8-ball and 9-ball) in Austin for about 7 years. I was part of a team, but played some singles and doubles too.

The last nights of summer deserve something unforgettable.

Step into a world where French style meets the soulful rhythms of New Orleans at Lindy Ball: Haut Jazz Edition. Inspired by the golden age of jazz, this evening blends effortless romance, vibrant swing, and late-summer charm into one incredible night on the dance floor.

✨ Doors Open: 7:00 PM

At 7:30 PM, join our incredible instructors for a free swing dance lesson—perfect whether it’s your very first swing out or you’ve been dancing for years.

From 8:00–11:00 PM, Cigano Swing fills Union Hall with the sounds of hot jazz, blending the romance of French cafés with the energy of New Orleans dance halls.

And when the band finishes, the night is just getting started...

Beginning at 11:00 PM, the Florida Blues Dance Society takes over with an after-party DJ set that’ll keep you dancing well into the night.

Dress for the occasion! Think seersucker suits, linen, sundresses, straw hats, pearls, vintage glamour, and effortless summer style. Whether your inspiration comes from the boulevards of France or the streets of the French Quarter, bring your finest Haut Jazz look and help us send summer off in style.

Q: How did you first discover LKLD Lindy Hop?
A: I first discovered the group when I went to the Bonnet Springs summer dance with Emily. Everyone was so welcoming and patient when they were teaching us the basics, so we decided to join the group on Mondays and the rest is history!

Q: Tell us about your favorite moment on the dance floor:

A: Oh there’s been so many! I would have to say my favorite moment was the birthday/celebration dance we did during the last class of 2025. It was my actual birthday so getting to celebrate and dance with everyone was so fun!

Q: What keeps you coming back to LKLD Lindy Hop week after week?

A: I keep coming back for both the dancing and the community. The lessons are well-structured and the instructors do a wonderful job keeping everything low pressure and easy for everyone to understand. The community is so welcoming and the friendships I’ve formed there have been so wonderful!
