Queen Margie Bar A pop-up bar with permanent energy

09/09/2026

Well, we love our merch so, so much that we can’t stop wearing it, taking photos in it, or talking about it. So here’s another post about our new T-shirts, beanies, tote bags, and hats.

The shirts have an oversized, fashionable fit. The black-on-black beanies are so stylish—I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. We also have the classic QM hats and new fall tote bags.

P.S. Who knows, I might even drop a fall menu edition.

Cheers to a new week at QM. See you at the bar!

First of all, I’m sorry for not having merch for almost a month, and thank you for showing so much interest in it.

I’m using island time as my excuse. You think it’ll be here in two weeks, but really it’s four… or six. That’s how we roll here.

But the new batch of merch is here! Hats and tote bags are still on the way, but the shirts have arrived.

It’s a brand-new design with two prints—one on the front and one on the back. They come in two colors: black and white.

Just like the print on our previous T-shirts, which featured a photo I took in Guadalajara, this one is my photo as well. I took it during trip to Mexico, in the town of Tequila, to be more particular—where this beautiful agave spirit was born.

I personally love/ like this second edition of Queen Margie T-shirts a lot. Especially the black one, because you can wear it while making drinks and not worry about messing it up—like I did with the previous one.

Anyway, have a nice weekend, you guys.

And as always, see you at the bar.

You guys have started asking me about the fall menu. And maybe it’s not the answer we all want to hear, but so far, I have no inspiration to create it.
And honestly, it sucks.
While I’m dealing with that, there’s still plenty of time to enjoy our summer menu—especially considering how hot it still is and probably will be through September.
I remember when I first presented this menu, I said that coming up with summer cocktails had always been my least favorite. Well, I think I’ve changed my mind.
I really enjoyed the process of creating this menu, and I genuinely love all of these drinks.
I also realized that it’s okay to have a favorite, even though they’re all my little babies.
So, if you want to know which one it is, stop by the bar and ask me.
Otherwise, have a great weekend. Enjoy the summer while it’s still here.

Not in much of a talking mood this week. Life outside the bar is catching up with me. And since I’m very (sometimes too) transparent with you guys, I thought I’d point that out.
So, I just wanted to post this video to highlight our Vinyl Nights, which we do once a month, and to say thank you to Ross for always bringing the right energy to our cozy, intimate little concept. And thank you to all of our guests for coming out and enjoying these nights with us.
And then I found a few more words in me about why we do vinyl—and why we don’t do live bands.
First of all, there are plenty of places that do live music of all kinds. We want to offer something different, something that fits our concept and our vision for the bar. It’s important to say that we’re not reinventing the bicycle here—we’re just riding it our own way.
Secondly, we don’t want to do something just because we feel like we have to. Whatever works for one place doesn’t guarantee success for another.
We never want QM to feel like—or be recognized as—just another bar. We want it to be a special place with its own identity.
And thanks to everyone who comes to visit us, we’re on our way toward that goal.

Not sure why, but I completely forgot that last weekend—August 1st—technically marked one year since we launched our little pop-up.

I’m the kind of person who’s never truly satisfied or 100% happy with my own performance. A lot of the time, because I’m always chasing more, I forget to appreciate what I already have.

It’s been an interesting and incredibly productive year for Queen. We still don’t have the capital to build the bar we dream about, but we’ve poured the foundation. This pop-up with permanent energy gave me the confidence that not only do I want to own a bar—but that I can do it. And I will.

Hard work, patience, and a little bit of luck can do amazing things.

Galveston has been incredible. Thank you to every single one of our guests. You guys are the best. Sometimes I can’t believe people actually come to our little bar to drink our cocktails—and that they enjoy them. It’s still surreal.

As fun and rewarding as it has been to be in Galveston, the economics are against us. At least for now. But let’s not talk about the sad stuff today. Let’s simply enjoy the time we have together.

Salute to the time we share together, G.

P.S.The video is from last Saturday, when the bar looked and felt exactly how a bar should: fun, busy, and a little loud—but never out of control.

Smiles, great conversations, good music, and quality cocktails, of course. In other words, the hospitality you deserve.

Salute to the weekend. Enjoy every moment of it, no matter where you are. Cheers.

Easy Like Trouble — a concoction born from… actually, let me start over.
There is this delicious strawberry amaro from Matchbook Distilling. They make other expressions too, but let’s focus on this one because this bottle is the reason we created this drink.
It first caught my eye because of the design (yes, the bottle got me). So I bought one, and both me and irena fell in love from the first sip.
“This could make a really nice refreshing summer drink,” she said — kind of planting a seed in my head.
The next thing that came to mind was a cocktail at Bar Americano Americano — their house vermouth blend topped with foam. A tasty one, by the way.
So what we did was mix our beloved Matchbook with Ramazzotti Rosato (I did not realize how hard this one would be to get, but anyway), add a bit of citrus, some CO₂, and it was almost there.
The last thing we did was top it with strawberry ricotta cheese foam. Nothing revolutionary here — just a fun little dessert layer — and suddenly it felt and tasted finished.
So if you feel like skipping dessert tonight, come get Easy Like Trouble at QM instead.
Cheers!

I can’t ask for more than hearing from you guys how much you enjoy the meaning behind our concept, the attention to detail, and the love we put into our little QM bar
Every event we host and every event we attend, we give it our all and think it through to make sure we all have a good time.
This Saturday, June 27, QM is happy to welcome my friend and chef from H-Town, Danny, for a special food pop-up.
Danny chose June 27 because it’s a legendary day in Houston hip-hop culture. As a true Houstonian, he has deep love for the sound that helped put Houston on the map.
Here’s what Danny says:
“June 27 became iconic through DJ Screw — Houston legend and pioneer of the chopped and screwed sound. Slowed down, chopped up, unmistakably Houston. That music created a culture and a sound that gave Houston its own lane and left a mark far beyond Texas.”
Come hungry. Come thirsty. Come celebrate Houston with us.
Cheers 🍸

Summer edition of the menu is just around the corner.

I’ll even confess something to you — summer cocktail R&D has never really been my favorite season to work on.

Well… I changed my mind.
Working on this menu edition definitely did that.

But until the release date, there’s still a little time left to come enjoy what Queen is offering right now.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not quite ready to let this version of the menu go.
Too many delicious options. Too many favorites.

Cheers!
