Some dogs tolerate having their picture taken. This pregnant Jack Russell looked like she had been preparing for her maternity shoot her entire life.
The photos first went viral in 2021, when Kentucky pet photographer Caitlin Snyman decided to do something special for her pregnant dog. With four puppies on the way, she created the kind of maternity setup normally reserved for expecting human moms, complete with pink and white decorations, flowers, bows and plenty of camera time.
Then her little model took over.
The Jack Russell was already comfortable in front of a camera, and Caitlin said she enjoyed posing and performing tricks. In the resulting photos, the mom-to-be stretched out beside flowers, showed off her growing belly and appeared remarkably relaxed while the camera captured the whole thing.
People loved it.
One contemporary report said Caitlin’s Facebook post featuring the maternity session was shared more than 59,000 times, while the dog’s social accounts attracted thousands of followers.
The photos became so popular that they continued resurfacing long after the original pregnancy. In September 2026, more than five years after the shoot, the pictures were circulating again as a new generation of viewers discovered them.
Part of the appeal is probably how familiar the entire setup looks.
Anyone who has seen a traditional maternity session will recognize the flowers, carefully arranged poses and emphasis on the expectant mom’s belly. The only difference is that this particular model had four paws and four puppies on the way.
And somehow, she seemed completely at home in front of the camera.
There is no dramatic rescue behind these photographs and no heartbreaking twist needed to make them memorable. They are simply a playful snapshot of a family celebrating an upcoming litter in a way people did not expect.
Five years later, those maternity photos are still circulating.
Apparently some models never really go out of style.
