My FAVORITE tequila brand🙌🏾🥰
In 2018, when Anteel Tequila hit the shelves, Nayana Ferguson became the first Black woman in the world to have any ownership in a tequila brand—at all.
Not just the first to co-own. The first to own in any capacity.
Let’s be clear:
✅ No Black woman had ever held ownership in a tequila brand before Nay.
✅ Anteel Tequila changed that.
✅ That’s not an opinion. That’s documented fact.
And Nay single-handedly made this happen by finding the distillery where Anteel Tequila is produced, getting samples, handling 100% of the operations and logistics, and sourcing all materials needed to produce our multiple award-winning tequilas.
Others may have come later with their own stories—and we respect the hustle and salute all their accomplishments but make no mistake about it, Nay was first.
Regardless of who is first, second, or third, there is room in the spirits world for everyone, as everyone has something unique and exceptional to offer.
The fact is, there are not enough women and women of color in the alcohol space. Instead of trying to build a city by destroying another, we should all come together to support each other and disrupt this industry to challenge the status quo.
Anteel wasn’t built to chase titles. It was built to create legacies.
