I'm hosting tonight, y'all. The feature is the kind of talented that makes you reevaluate whether or not you're really a poet or just sorta good with words. William Evans is not only the HNIC over at Black Nerd Problems and the host/founder/Papa Bear over at Writing Wrongs Poetry Slam, he's the father to the current Avatar and author of "lowercase boy", a book of poetry that hasn't left my bookbag since it arrived in the mail. If you're looking for a chill open mic experience that starts on time and isn't in a bar, holla at ya girl.

We're also officially one week away from our first Vocalist's Slam of the year, so if you want to get some on stage practice in before showtime, now is the time to do it. Bring your poems, bring your songs, bring your ass!

Our features tonight really need your help as they'll be hitting the road this weekend to compete in the Rustbelt Poetry Slam. Come help both Detroit teams (Team Roses and Revolutions: Deonte Osayande, Claretha Peace Robinson, Malachi London, and Kyera Allison & Team Detroit Witness: Justin Rogers, Devin Magee, Joseph Verge, Andrew Alexander Barnhill , & Ajanae Dawkins run poems by giving them lots of love a few well placed blank stares!

We're back for the first open mic of the year, and tonight's feature is none other than the awesome, the incredible, the phenomenal...YOU! That's right, we're feature free as we dip our toes in 2013, but we kick off feature season next week with poet/emcee/host extraordinaire Joel "Fluent" Greene! Say word! Start the year off right and come holla' at us!
