Have you stopped in for our One-Year Anniversary Weekend yet? We'd love to see you, have you try our limited-time anniversary specials, and sign our anniversary banner! Can you believe it? This weekend marks ONE WHOLE YEAR of the Rook Room Game Lounge & Cafe. We officially opened the doors to our home on SW 5th on May 31st of last year. It's been an amazing 365 days, and we'd love to see y'all here this weekend to celebrate with us! Pop down to play and enjoy one of our Anniversary Party specials:

Anniversary Mulberry Hugo – A mulberry twist on the classic light, refreshing, and bubbly Italian cocktail. Featuring St. Germain, Revelton Mulberry Gin, mint and ube syrup, prosecco, and club soda. Served with a lime wedge.

"Edge Piece" Meatlover's Flatbread Pizza – Oven-baked na'an flatbread with house marinara, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, Graziano sausage, diced ham, and bacon.

"One Year" Ube Cheesecake – Ube and vanilla cheesecake served with a scoop of ice cream and a celebratory birthday candle (unlit, but you can imagine).

Since we're Des Moines' puzzle people, we'll also be having one of our crowd-favorite Jigsaw Puzzle Swaps on Saturday from 9 AM until 2 PM. Get rid of your jigsaw puzzles and swap them out for some new (to you) ones.

Do you have some old jigsaw puzzles in good condition? Want to swap them out for some new (to you) puzzles to keep you going all through the summer? Head on down to our Jigsaw Puzzle Swap tomorrow, Saturday, May 30th, from 9 AM until 2 PM.

For those who haven't been before, we encourage you to bring in as many puzzles as you'd like to exchange. We'll give you a redemption ticket for each that you can use to swap for another puzzle at the swap. Don't have puzzles to exchange? Don't worry – you can buy redemption tickets at $5 each. We encourage you to stick around a while, enjoy some puzzling, food, and drinks while scoping out new puzzles as they arrive.

Another important update, friends!

Unfortunately, we will be closed for normal service on Wednesday and Thursday. However, WE WILL STILL BE HOLDING SCHEDULED TICKETED AND SPECIAL EVENTS, including Blood on the Clocktower on Wednesday and Des Moines Con Badge Pickup Party on Thursday. All other events, including Meet & Play and Mahjong Open Play, are canceled.

Some good news: we expect to be back open on Friday at 8 AM for normal service continuing through the weekend.

Thanks for your understanding and continued support while we work around some structural concerns outside of our control. Your support and patience with all of this have been amazing 💜
