I got up early and did some research into exactly who is getting SNAP benefits. This is what I found - take it or leave it.
1. There are 1 million veterans;
2. There are 213,000 National Guard and reserve members
3. 28% of SNAP recipients have earned income/ 55% of households with children have earned income
4. 60% have unearned income (SSI, SSDI). 33% get Social Security. 23% get SSI.
5. 20% have no income
6. 42% are ages 18-59, 39% are children, 19% are 60 and older.
Those appear to be the facts as of last year. Have at it.
