Thirty plus dancers got low, got grounded, and found the root of all of it. 🔥

Our Afro Movements workshop with guest artist Sheena Black-Thomas was something else. Live drumming from Baba Djuann, a room full of people who stepped all the way outside their comfort zone, and ninety minutes inside the grounded movement and the rhythms that shape salsa and bachata.

Sheena was our second guest artist in studio, and she set the bar high.

Thank you Sheena Black. Thank you Baba Djuann. And thank you to everyone who walked in willing to be a beginner again, that is the whole thing right there.

No Latin Pulse tonight. Which gives you exactly one week to run out of excuses. 😏

Never danced? The 7 PM bachata lesson starts from zero. No partner? Nobody needs one, we rotate. Think you're too old? 18 and up, no upper limit. Haven't been back in a while? We miss you.

Latin Pulse Thursdays is back next week at Motte Restaurant and Bar in Highlandtown.

traditional bachata. Before bachata got sensual, it had footwork — and
that's the foundation she's here to build. Take her workshop on its own,

One week out. Our next beginner series starts Monday, October 5 in Harbor East.

Salsa 1A · 7:00 to 8:00 PM
Bachata 1A · 8:00 to 9:00 PM

Four weeks, one night a week, designed for people who have never danced a step. No partner needed. No experience needed. Come with a friend, or come on your own and we will pair you up.

Week 1 is where the foundation gets built, so jumping in now is the difference between learning it and catching up. Our next start after this is November 2, and that is our last beginner series of the year.

Meet our next Bmore Urbana guest artist: Siara Maldonado 💃🕺

Siara has been dancing her whole life, starting with ballet, tap, and jazz as a
teen. In 2022, right here in Baltimore, she found her love for Afro-Latin
dance — specifically bachata and salsa. Her teaching is all about flow,
feeling, and the roots that give bachata its power.

On Saturday, October 10, Siara teaches Traditional Bachata: Footwork and
Flow at Coppermine Harbor East, 1:45 to 3:15 PM. It's one of three
workshops running that day.

Before bachata got sensual, it had footwork. This 90 minutes is about the
foundation underneath everything else you already dance.

In this workshop, dancers will work on:
- Your foundation and basics toolbox
- The history and roots of bachata — where the intention and power behind
the movement come from
- Grounding drills, plus a footwork combo to take home into your social dancing

All levels. No partner needed.

Siara ha bailado toda su vida, empezando con ballet, tap y jazz de
