Latest Alumni Spotlight: An alumni's journey from the hallways of NIS to a restored farmhouse in rural Nagano. Yumi (1983) took some time to talk to us about her time at NIS and the winding road that took her around the world to reviving a traditional Japanese kominka into a B&B and café.

Alumni Spotlight - Nagoya International School is a diverse, inclusive international school in Nagoya, Japan offering the IB PYP, MYP, and DP programs.

One Dolphin's eagle eye led us to search through past KIBOs (yearbooks) to see if we can track down the actual dates of each image we posted for the Last Week's "Throw Back Thursday".

Using these images, where we focused on the lettering of Nagoya International School along the front of the school, we were able to deduce the dates of each image.

We can now confidently say, (for those that were in question):
#1 & #3 from our last post were taken between 1975-1980.
#2 was taken between 1971-1975.
#4 was taken in 1980.

📸Throwback Thursday: The Front Door Metamorphosis

Last week we took to the skies—and wow, did those aerial shots get Dolphins 🐬 talking. So this week, we’re bringing it back down to earth with a look at the school’s front through the ages.

From the late 60s’ “humble driveway and a dream” vibe to today’s polished, welcoming stairway, the front of NIS has gone through a multitude of changes.

We’ve got seven photos showing it all: the old gravel approach, the early building façade, the gradual upgrades, and finally the modern entrance you walk through today. Think of it as a time-lapse of NIS standing up straighter, getting a fresh haircut, and saying, “How do I look?”

Now all you need to tell me is what year each image is 😜!

📸 Throwback Thursday: Now & Then at NIS

Every so often, a photos surface that makes you say, “Wow… we’ve really leveled up.” Case in point: this week’s aerial shots. In the 70s, NIS looked like a brave little outpost in the middle of, well, plenty of open space. Today’s aerial view? Let’s just say we’ve grown some wings—and a few buildings, the Wing Building, a nice field (not the gravel I grew up on), and we see where the East Building will be placed.

From dusty paths to polished pavements, from a few rooftops to an entire campus community—NIS has come a long way. And we’re still moving forward!
