Hard to believe 40 years today since this legend passed. He graced the stages at the Baymount and Silver Slipper many times with Easter Sunday 1980 and Thin Lizzy being the biggest night in Strandhill and dare I say in Sligo nightlife.

In memoriam. Chris Rea.
A massive evening when he performed in Strandhill during the mid-1980s. He took a stroll on the beach unnoticed later he had an upset stomach and made his way to the kitchen and spoke with my mother. She administered Kaopectate, to which he inquired about its effects. My mother said just like Bisto, it browns, thickens and seasons
He proceeded to deliver an outstanding performance, opening with 'Ace of Hearts'. RIP.
